The last few years 42's event didn't have much of an event. Your show would make it a event again instead of the 3 day race it is now. There is a lot of history at that old track.

On another note, I'm not sure why 42 is a 1/8 mile track these days, some legal crap I'm sure. Hell the last time we ran fuel there they were getting the cars stopped and we were running 230 or so.

an IHRA track would be preferable for us. NHRA licencing is pricey so we haven't got to that yet.

There's also Quaker City in Salem, Ohio, that's a quarter mile. It has fresh pavement, too.

  7. Kevin, Quaker was asked and declined already.

How about Western NY? there's Lancaster speedway or Empire, both 1/8 mile tracks. Empire has the Gold Cup event in August which seems to do pretty good, maybe do something in early summer/ late spring. Lancaster has the Sunday Niagara event in august which is a friggin joke now, it used to do pretty good back a few years ago.
If it has to be in Ohio then Thompson gets my vote.

  10. Lancaster is a neat place, but too small for what we want to do! I have never been to Empire, but heard many great things about it. Problem is there is already a Gasser Race there and I don't want to step on their toes and bring another show in to the same place.

Don--why the .400 pro tree for basically what is a bracket race? It didn't work well last year at Beaver. I was talking with the group up here and they're balking at that rule. We find it's a real crap shoot for the faster car. Too long on the converter.

  14. John, I guess I don't understand your question? A .400 tree is the quickest tree? I don't have a fast car yet so help me out! We think its a better show when the cars are not sitting on their convertor at the line waiting for the tree to signal down...Here is a description from NHRA...

THREE-AMBER STARTING SYSTEM: All three amber floodlights in a driver’s lane flash simultaneously before the green light comes on. This is called a “Pro start” system. Racers running in handicap categories get a countdown of one amber light at a time until the green light comes on. The Pro start system runs with a .4-second difference between amber and green lights, while the handicap system runs with a .5-second difference between bulbs.

  15. On a pro tree you have to get on the converter at the same time as your opponent because you don't have any warning when the tree is going to come down. If you are the faster car it could be quite some time after the slower car leaves before you get the green. You are against the converter during this time. Sportsman (.500) tree's work much better when there is a "spot" involved. (bracket racing)

If you want to run a heads up index race NDRL will have classes for you with a pro tree and no handicap.(my preference)

  19. Ok, so it doesnt affect the Nostalgia Gas class because they are racing heads up index, only the Competition gas classes.

  20. That was our thinking when we decided the pro tree.

  21. Troublemaker427, that makes alot of sense, I guess I never thought of it that way because I am always leaving first! What if we separated the lanes based on approximate et to keep the opponents close?

  22. In the end on sunday it will be a big bracket race to even the playing field, so maybe I can get the track to change this to a sportsman tree....I don't think it should be that hard! But I still like the idea of getting similar competition in the lanes? What do you guys think of that?

If it's sportsman tree you'll have a few more of us from the NY group coming down. It's cool racing someone that dials in close to you but it adds a lot of work for someone to do the pairing up. If it's a sportsman tree we'll come.

  24. The Hunnert Car Heads Up/ Gasser Nationals North are rapidly approaching, does anybody have any questions/concerns?

  25. Hey Don, How many cars are you expecting Sunday? We will be there Friday and Saturday and may need to leave mid-afternoon Sunday.

  26. No idea, this is a pilot event, with not much advance notice, so it is hard to say, plus we are not handeling pre-registration. Such a cool event I would think alot of folks would want to be there though! I would expect to be done by mid afternoon too, long ride home:eek:
