It has taken me a while to catch my breath but the Blue Suede Cruise was a success! Mother nature didn't play nice as it was brutally hot on Friday and Saturday. The rain started Saturday evening and we had to cancel the Nostalgia Gas class trophy race. We just awarded each index A through G a trophy for the racer that ran closest to their index. The trophies were awarded on stage right before the Jay and the Americans concert! Late that night a crazy storm came through and made a mess of things. Sunday the weather was great and there was lots of racing action! Between the Gassers, the AA/GS, NDRL, Super Stocks, Funny Cars, and hot rod we easy had 300 race cars! The pits were filled nicely! I never made it over to the show side but kept hearing over the pa that they set a record for cars in an event that has been going on for a dozen years! The folks at Summit Motorsports Park did an awesome job and service was second to none! My kids loved the Jay and the Americans concert and the fireworks were amazing! Here is a picture of the Nostalgia Gas winner vs. the Competition Gas winner. Scott Benson won the overall Gasser Appreciation race...Congrats to Scott enjoy the loot and the cool trophy! We will be back in Norwalk next year!

I was there Sunday watching the eliminations. These guys were running serious numbers! Awesome event.

 

Don, this was my first time at the Blue Suede Cruise and I had a great time in spite of the heat. Went all the way to the finals in Competition Gas only to red light ( -.001 ) but went home smiling. Planning to come back next year.

Thanks Don, the car hasn't run as quick as last year but I'm working on it. Come up to the Gold Cup at Empire Dragway Aug. 17-18. You won't be disappointed
