When you are trying to set up the drag link on a gasser...are you trying to get the drag link totally level?? or do you need to have a slight angle in it?? I have looked at alot of the pictures on the hamb...and i like shakeypuddins set up...but i cant tell in the pictures if it is totally level or not...and if you cant get it level...will having an angle in it mess with the steering of the car...

and one more dumb question...this is my first gasser build...what is the proper way to get a measurement for the tie rod?? i'm thinking you set the tires straight and measure from the center of the holes in the steering arms...but how much do you take out of that measurement so the tie rod ends will have some adjustment room...

I have heard that if the drag link is angled too much down that the bump steer will be worse.I havent seen many that are perfectly straight either. The drag link on my Falcon is angled a little bit but very little and i have nearly no bump steer .You will have to take lots of things in to consideration to make it all fit such as the oil pan sump ,springs ,etc .,so you may not be able to get things perfect. We put the center link and tierods on the bottom and the draglink on the top of the spindals to make the draglink straighter to the steering box on the Falcon.I also used heim joints instead of tie rods to keep anything from binding .As far as the tie rod length ,i ordered mine from MAS when i ordered the tube axle to fit the length correctly ( it was the one they recomended for my 48 inch axle ) and it came with the heim joints .It was about a half inch too long though ,so i had to trim it off to get the alignment right. What i mean is with the ends screwed all the way in ,it was still towed in too much ,so i had to trim it off to screw the ends in enough to get the wheels straight or about 3/16 toe in (which is what is recomended ) ...
