Technical gasser tire size

    My NHRA rule books don't go back far enough.Just checking to see what, if any, the size limits were on the rear slicks for g***ers in the 60's. I know they could hang outside of the fenders. Thanks !!

    To stay within the the HAMB era a 10" wide piecrust slick would be most correct. Goodyear had there new purpose built slick out sometime in 65 and I think they were 11" wide without the piecrust sidewall.

    As you noticed, tires could hang out any distance. The rules didn't cover tire sizes and types, but a 8"-10" was pretty much the standard, and as II Funny mentioned the earlier g***ers were usually pie crust slicks.

    10.00-16 was a big tire till the 11.00-16 came out...:eek: that was aa/gas material.... :D

    I bought a pair of 10.5 x 28 x 15 for mock-up.... Used..
