well my new project is a 1942 chevy coupe. this thing is all original and the only things i have found that are missing is a couple of nobs on the dash. all gl*** is good in it too. what i want to do with this car is build a g***er. i am in the process of getting parts together and the one thing i am missing is a straight axle. i haven quite decided on what i am going to use yet. i had a gentlemen approach with an axle out of a 39 chevy pickup. i was wondering if anybody out there know if this axle would work in my car. i kinda want to go street strip with this car but i dont plan on going real fast or doing huge wheel stands with it. one thing i am not sure about is the width of the axle. will it be too short? and if it will work is there any other spindles i can use with it so i can make it 5 lug with disc brakes?
