Projects gato mierda marron especiales...29A build

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Glen, May 26, 2008.

  1. Yeah, I'm thinking that two-bolt hole 1/4" plates welded to the roll bar/cage on my 31 and then bolted to stepped Tig'd into the frame threaded (1/2-20) welded bung will do it.
Kinda hate to cut holes in the floor, but when you gotta....

Did the same with my 32s four point roll bar and it's working fine.
A little carpet covers a multitude of sins....

  2. Maybe it has something to do with the name "Glen":D

Intelligent design, great engineering, and it's gonna be scary. I love it.

One question? The tie rod is forward of the axle, which creates that pesky "reverse Ackerman" problem. Do you have a plan for resolving that?

Now that the car is setup with weight in it I hope to move that back where it belongs. I got tired of pushing the car around without a tie rod so I thru it up there. between the frame Z and the wishbone it will be challenging.

Sorry.....Im not a good judge at that stuff. The cylinder heads, intake and displacement should mate up to produce very good Horsepower and torque. I guess 2400 lbs when finished, it has a trans brake with 4.11 posi.
Do you think I can get under 10.5?

  8. Earlier you mentioned BBC. How big?

Pick up chicks....what else do we do this for? It will be street legal, with a little friday night drag racing.

  11. Got tires?;)

Ten second cars are fairly easy to do, looking from here yours should make it easily.

Might wanta think about a parachute to help keep it straight....:D

There have been a bunch of threads about cowl steering so I thought I would post these pics. I got a lot of ideas using the search function so thanks to those who posted pics in the past. Maybe these will help someone else.

    2002 Series BMW steering gear....not the year...the model 2002
I also wanted the pitman arm inside the car....Pinkies ran it inside on the Model A they had at the Roundup.

Like the threads in the past....I cut the splined section of the pitman arm off, and turned it down in the lathe. Once it was smooth I cut a hole in my new pitman arm using the rotary table one the mill. ElPolacko made the tapered hole on the ball joint side and made my drag link out of 7/8.

    Measure once...cut twice.

The gear is mounted solid.....at first glance it looks like it would flex but it doen't.....I will probably add another support bar or two or tie them together. I think the length of the column drop helps too.

Now I can start on the headers.

You spent a little time on that trans tunnel, didn't ya? Looks SWEET man! You have some awsome fabrication skills. What are your plans for the headers? Down and under...or maybe some zoomie style?

    Thanks.
I have been collecting bends. I have a box of J bends and a Dynatech weld up kit that is for a strut type drag chassis they are 2 1/8 in diameter. Between all of the bends I hope to make something cool. I have made some pipes for MC's but making two sides match will be a challenge.

made a dash and put the old rail back over the top of it. I had to notch
the ends to clear the cage

I did a re-do on the gas tank mount....same idea but this one mounts better, I also took three inches off the end of the gas tank, I needed the space to mount my battery.

Mounted my new door panels today.....I cant take any credit for them. A friend made them. As a matter of fact I cheated twice this weekend. El Polacko did a gear swap on my 9" today too, I went from a 4.11 to a 4.86.
