Any folks out there familiar with this club? Maybe some history or club member names or possibly the origin? Photographs? Thank you Skip
I assume you saw the other post here. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/gear-twisters-sf.1335624/ Nothing else came up in a quick search. I've got a book about old So Cal. race tracks. Not great, but lots of stuff that's been dug out of archives. Best bet is Bay Area historic societys and newspaper archives if the dragster was run at nearby tracks..
Some more information in terms of other members including Frank Cava, John Jungle, Bob Turney, Bill Jabs, and Jim Sebastiani. Later I believe a guy by the name of Cal Bird was also a member. Thank you for posting this. I have also have had a hard time finding any other photos from the Oakland Roadster Show 1962. It would be cool to see more pictures of the dragster. They used to race it at Half Moon Bay. One story is that the car blew up and a clutch hit a lady in the stands. Not enough to seriously hurt her. The club was so poor that nothing came about it since there was nothing to sue them for. After the club was sponsored by the local police department.
