Wow, the new Rod and Custom has so many gold and goldish colors in it that I must really be a trendy son of a gun. My wife was ragging on me and getting a good laugh because of the five window and the bubble top on the cover...she said that issue will be in the "office" for months.

Anyone know the Wheeler guy with the five window...kinda scary how similar our cars turned out. That nailhead looks killer in his. That five window goes to the top of my list with Dueces green one, that sorta famous lavender one from the MN area, and the yellow coupe we all know so well. Good job Wheeler, whoever you are. Yea, I just got mine last night. He put a lot of work into that thing. The only thing I wasn't keen on was the 2 barrel stuck under the "fake" blower? Was that a joke?

You are talking about the truck, I am talking about the 32 Five Window. I gotta agree, that was odd.

You're thinking of the '28 Dodge...I was thinking "This is really cool!" up until I read the part where it has a huge FAKE blower and huge FAKE 6x2 intake. Ugh. That stuff is only cool if it works. The stock 331 hemi from '54 was only either 195 or 235hp, and with the DeSoto powerflite he won't be burning much rubber, especially since the 2-barrel probably has a hard time sucking air through all that junk. Really weak.

The Ford with the nailhead is REALLY cool though

You're right, it was the Dodge, Woops. The 32 had the nailhead, which makes sense for a 60's car.

Byron, I was thinking the same thing when I picked that up yesterday.

The car is eerily similar to yours...except yours is steel. [IMG] But then again, his does have a nailhead...[IMG] ..but his also has uni-lug wheels [IMG] I guess I'm just picky.

I'd personally like to see a feature with both your car and his together...they both kick ass in their own way.

Thanks for the kind words Mr. Bass. Just looking at the interiors you would think we built the cars side by side...it is spooky. I kinda do get hung up on the glass thing, but the look of the car and the nailhead kinda make it all okay in my book...killer car indeed.

Byron, it was good to meet you this past month, I'm the one that rode up with Tyler to your Tuesday evening shop meet a few weeks back. I look forward to seeing the pics when I get back to my copy of R&C after the holidays.
You may be a trendy chump, but at least we won't accuse you of being "metro-sexual." [IMG]

The guy I sit next to at work is the Art Director for Custom Rodder. "Goldish" colors are so prevelant his new catch phrase is "COPPER! The new Black"

Nice to hear from you BTW, and have a Merry X-mas.

Speaking of the new R-C, I got kinda discouraged about halfway thru it... the 5-window only runs 2 of the 6 carbs, then the truck runs a fake blower setup, and then a paint article on how to fake patina. [IMG]

This fake patina stuff is getting stupid. If you want a barn car they are out there, you don't have to create one. I hope those fake patina cars get laughed at , not revered.

They do when I see them. I'd rather walk than drive a fake car.

The worst to me was when they put a slick black paint job on a 32 roadster and then did this fake stuff to it...makes no sense to me to slick a car and paint it and then do this. It never looks real to me, it is not organic enuff and a car would not be that shiny everywhere else. Ah well.

  19. All those Golds and Coppers you speak of were pre-ordaigned several years ago. My 2000 Ranger is that hue. There are professional color designers that do nothing but pick color trends for the future. Back in 93 when I was in school for advertising, they were telling og the coming of copper/bronze!!!!! Hmmmm, considering how long I planned for the gold there is only one answer...mind readers snuck into my home, read what little mind I have, went back to the base the housed JFK's brain and the reanimated Elvis to study my brain patterns, and changed the course of hot rodding and destiny based on me...and here I thought I was not important...phhttt [IMG] to you Buzzard, I told you I was a big shot.

I can be a miniflame heckfire poser GOD!

  21. So. Seriously now folks. What's the next Copper/Black? I am still going with a Copper interior in my black 59 Impala but now it seems like everyone is doing it. So what's next? Suede Copper? Like the picture that David Perry took of this 59?

Ask Tman. He obviously has the inside scoop.

I bet more earth tones are on the way. Followed, of course by pastels and blues and magentas with a lot of graphics. God I love the 80's. I can't wait to put on my tuxedo tshirt with the sleeves cut off, skinny red leather tie, parachute pants and red Converse and go cruisin' in my full fendered teal street rod with the magenta scallops that fade into teadrops.

I guess I need to start growing my "tail" now so it'll be longer, and therefore cooler, than everyone elses. Totally Awesome.
