I had the gecko car insurance for 15 years without a claim. One night some fool forgot to tighten down his T-tops. It flew off into my hood and through a valve cover. He drove off but not before I caught his plate number. They jerked me around for 6 moths and dropped me right after that. It has been 4 years and they have been trying to get me back since.

I did a free rate quote with Jake from State Farm. 6 months later I found out my State Farm home fire insurance policy was rejected? I never signed up for that nor did I ever have it. It wasn't until I realized Jake had screwed me over because I didn't take the car insurance. Problem with this was I had to prove I already had fire insurance to avoid paying for fire insurance I never asked for or agreed to with State Farm.

Lesson Learned... Use a reputable broker and stay away from cut rate insurance. What you save in the beginning you pay in aggravation and run around when you finally submit a claim.

  2. The wife’s 41 Plymouth is covered with our regular carrier State Farm. When I was ready to put the car on the road I called our agent to see if he would be willing to insure it. He agreed on a separate policy other than a daily use vehicle so we could get tags and drive the car. He explained there might be problem with State Farm underwriting the policy. Sure enough the underwriters refused to cover the car as the agent agreed. So in the meantime I didn’t want to be caught off guard and left without insurance on the 41. I called Hagerty and Grundy. Grundy was okay with the Plymouth but Hagerty tried making it difficult if I had chosen them for cover on the car. Turned out in the long run we kept State Farm on the 41. Had some difficulties convincing them on the agreed value but once my agent came out, inspected, took pictures and drove the car I guess he pulled some strings and the car is coved with them.

When I was ready to insure my 27 Model T I contacted our State Farm agent again. This time he flat out would not work with me on coverage. He said forget it, State Farm “WILL NOT” entertain any idea of insuring “that car”. I then contacted Grundy but the girl on the phone was kind of ill-mannered. I wasn’t ready to jump through the hoop and they didn’t seem ready or willing to insure me right away on the phone for whatever reason. Also Grundy wouldn’t allow anyone under the age of 25 drive the car. I have two sons under age and I don’t make it a habit to give them the keys to either of our cars but I think they should at least have to experience of driving them if they chose to. Called Hagerty and before I got off the phone the 27 was covered without too much h***le. I used Grundy in the past without any problems and don’t understand why the T was problematic for them.

After I insured the Model T with Hagerty they contacted me about insurance on the 41 Plymouth after they made it somewhat difficult earlier with them. Figured I’d stick with State Farm on the Plymouth after all I put my agent through. Never had a claim so I can’t say otherwise what might happen if I need to use the coverage. Whatever coverage I have not willing to shop it around to save a dollar or two. I’m willing to leave well enough alone and it seems you only get what you pay for.

I have geico for my 03 f150 and 50 caddy. The cad is a project car that i rarely drive but it has to be tagged where I live otherwise theyd make me put it in storage. Its drivable and complete, i just pick and choose when. Anyhow, I just carry liability which is like 15 bucks a month for me.
