A big thanks to Rick Miller and his crew. They brought there mobile soda blaster to Chris Harper's body shop and donated there labor and the soda to this project. A really big thanks to Chris Harper for all he's doing to get paint on this project. [IMG]

Chris Harper ant wasting any time he is already got a coat of mud on the roof. Again I can't thank this man enough. If not for Mr Harper we would have never been able to get the body and paint work finished in time. [IMG]

Your right we all like helping each other but this car has been receiving help from all over the world and a lot of the help has come from Hamb members. We are still having trouble believing how good ya'll have been to help and offer to help. You should see the 100s of private messages I have received wanting to help. We are honored to be a part of the Hamb. Thank's again ~Quain~

Quain, Low-Rays has donated all the sanding supply's. Like sand papers etc. Rick Miller the soda blaster supplied the soda as well. There's so many nice people helping with this project its hard for us to keep it straight sometimes. A BIG THANKS goes out to all the people who have helped Gene with this project.

  20. Merlin (Harry) came to Anderson yesterday and picked me up and we made the rounds,,we went to Chris Dunn's Palmetto Rod Worx and shot the breeze a while and then he led us to Chris Harper's shop to see how the body work is coming along.

Talk about a man possessed,Mr. Harper is sick and he's out there in the cold shop sanding away.

I only took one photo,,but the car looks smooth. HRP

Dad and I went over to Harper's shop last night. I did some blocking and spot filler work on the right side of the shell and dad worked on the headliner and trim panel patterns. It's not as straight as it looked but it's getting there! Chris is still sick so I'll be back over to keep progress going as much as I can. He had the shell mostly roughed in before spraying the epoxy and Slick Sand; we'll get the small wrinkles out and shoot more Slick Sand for another round of blocking to get it super flat.

Always the innovator Gene didn't have any way of polishing the lip on the magnesium wheels plus he can't stand for very long. So he sawed off an old axle and rigged it up on this special bench grinder to spin the wheel so he can set in his chair a get the job done. [IMG]

I enjoyed meeting Chris Dunn and checking out Palmetto Rod Worx and really enjoyed getting to check out Genes car at Harpers shop. Did anyone find out what was written on the trunk lid back then?

I asked Gene today about the trunk lid. He said it had Gene's Speed Shop on it and he didn't remember if it had the flags or not. He said the paint had some stuff in it that sparkled in the light.
He's looking for parts in his shop to build the motor now. He's like the rest of us, he can't find stuff that he knows he has. He found a set of polished rods while I was there.

We finally found a possible source for light blue plexiglass and have ordered a sample. All of our normal suppliers didn't have anything light enough to closely match the original tint. Hopefully what they send will match their website's photo.

Made more dust last night. I'll try to get back over there Friday night, Chris still wasn't feeling well last night again.
