Cool the Moonlighter is already started getting trophies again. Something tells me this won't be the last.

  3. We had a great time yesterday at the Spring Water Festival & car show, this was the 32 year and the first time Gene, along with family and friends were able to display the Moonlighter and excite the huge crowd.

While they had the car loaded up after the show in Williamston they decided to take the car to the Cruise-in in Anderson,S.C.,,they parked the truck & trailer down the street and Gene & Melvin drove down hwy 81 to Micky D's and low and behold a lot of people took notice of a real gasser driving in.

I honestly believe Genes entire family had a ball yesterday! :) HRP

HRP, Did anybody take picture of The Moonlighter at the cruise in? Congrats on y'all getting a top 25 with the wagon.

  5. I saw a lot of camera flashes last night but my camera was left in the wagon for a couple of weeks and the batteries were deader than a door nail! HRP

I've never had the pleasure of knowing the Cromers, but I bet these gals are both "daddy's girls", and proud as punch of their dad and his race car.

  8. Steve,I can assure you that in the eyes of these girls the sun rises and sets on Gene and Ruth,,these lady's and their family's are truly some of the most genuine people you will ever have the pleasure of meeting! HRP

I hope this isn't too much off topic and sappy. I was lucky to have "salt of the earth" type parents that we looked up to, admired, and loved dearly. Sadly, they have passed on now. Gene's long marriage, success, and wonderful family are what results when we follow God's plan of family values. That may not be too popular a view in these so called "modern times", but it sure still works like it has for thousands of years.

I just want to say, I have been involved with this project since the very beginning and had no real idea what good friends would come from the experience. Taking this picture at the McDonalds Cruize in really told me what matters, this was what it is all about. The Cromers and Melvin Craft are as good as it gets..

Had to park my truck and trailer containing the Moonlighter across and down the street because there wasn't room in the McDonalds lot. Melvin and I walked across to investigate parking. A place was held and we returned to the truck and trailer for the moonlighter. Gene and Melvin then proceeded to bust it off down highway 81 to McDonalds and made the appropriate entrance. Cruizing the burger joint and rattling the wiindows! Ruth was not especially happy but you know "boys will be Boys".

  15. Thats Awesome..... Thanks for posting the picture I can just imagine there thoughts pulling into the lot "1960's all over" Good for you ... Gene and Melvin. And Ruth was probably saying the same thing back then with a grin

Gene, I hate we missed the Car Shows Saturday. Had to work, maybe next time. It's a real blessing to see you and your family together at all the showings. You and the Moonlighter are still # 1.

    Gene,
Remember the time at Lakeside Drag Strip, a certain friend of ours had gone along to help you(NOT MELVIN !) and he left the balls in the injector stacks. You didn't realize it until you tried a burnout! We gave him the jazz(all in fun) for a long time!

Gene and Melvin were talking about that today, they said only one was left in.

It's great seeing the Cromer family out and about with the Moonlighter. Might be the most fun they have had together in years! Love the account of Gene and Melvin cruising McDonalds. Bet that woke up some folks ... lol :D

Frank, can you put a great big eyelet hook in that track? I need to see if I can winch it about 300 miles northwest.:D
