Gene Melvin and I would like to send a special thanks out to Cameron at Cameron's converter service in Columbia SC. After Gene and Melvin having to take the transmission out of the moonlighter and make trips to another shop two different times we wised up and took it to Cameron. It now works perfect. Cameron also does my pro car converters and they hold up to 3600 HP, have never had any problems. Here's a pic of Cameron and Melvin rebuilding the B & M C6 at his shop.[IMG]

There's no better advertisement than success. If you get 'er done, she's done. End of story.

I had a great time at "The Gear Jam" at Atlanta Dragway today. The Executioner and the other nostalgia gassers got to make a few passes and put on a good show for the crowd. Unfortunately The Moonlighter wasn't there, but Gene was. Chris Dunn was Gene's chauffeur for the day. He's chebby man and said he had to borrow a Ford truck so Gene wouldn't be seen riding in a chebby.
Now for the cool part. I got to meet and talk with Hubert Platt. He said he would like to see Gene again. I told him that Gene was supposed to be there and I would make sure he came by to see him. I found Gene in Quain's pit and told him Hubert would like to see him. We hijacked Quain's golf cart and went to see Hubert. I was fascinated hearing those two old friends talk. The part that really made my day happened when we were getting back in the cart. As Hubert was shaking my hand he said, "thanks for bringing Gene to see me".

  10. Thats awesome. Two great ford warriors meeting again. Frank lucky you, I would have liked to have listened in on that conversation.
Good things happen to great men and Gene sure is enjoying the good times.
Tells you the type of man he was, and is today.
Like I said before Good for you Gene :)

    Hey Frank!

Where are the good pictures of Huberts car? I know you took some. Us ole Chebby guys as you call us are interested too. Seems like if I remember correctly there are as many Chebby guys that helped Gene restore the Moonlighter as there were Ford Fans.

This was the only Gasser event I did not go with Gene to due to a prior commitment with my mother. I sure hated to miss it.

    Hey David,
I know you would have been there if you could have made it. I know there were guys from all the different "camps" involved and I personally appreciate everything that was done by all to get the Moonlighter back on the strip. I just had to put what Chris said because it was funny. I'l put the pics here, but I might have to take them down if I get complaints. I'll also post a pic of Hubert's late brother Huston's last funny car for the Chevy lovers.
    Pictures didn't post????

I wish someone would donate the correct wheels to them for the funny car. I heard it was the original body that's cool

It would look better with the original wheels. I talked with the driver and he said that it is indeed the original body and chassis.

This thread is drifting off topic. But, since Gene WAS at Atlanta, I suppose it's ok.:D Thanks for getting us the cool pics Frank. :)

Gene, family and Melvin, have a great time at your induction into the East Coast Hall of Fame. This is a great honor that I believe is many years overdue. Quain, Gene earned this honor but I thank you for bringing Gene and that blue coupe back into the limelight.

I was wearing my Moonlighter shirt today. My 4 year old spells out M o o n l i g h t e r she's asks me what that spells. I told her it spells Moonlighter. She looks at me and says, "what the hecks a Moonlighter?" I thought it was funny.

Everything went well for the Cromers except the weather on Saturday. Even with the on/off drizzle the car count and crowd was about the same as usual. There were a lot of people there that had not seen Gene or the car in over 30 years.

Gene Giving his speech he did a great job we was afraid he wouldn't talk but he gave it like a pro. He thanked God first and foremost then thanked his family and all involved in the Moonlighter rebuild.
