I always wanted a custom. A while back I found a 51 mercury here on the hamb. I bought the car but never did a whole lot to it. Well this past weekend I took the car to Oklahoma City, Ok to gene winfield workshops. Wound up chopping the car 4 in the front and five in the back. I still have to done some work on it to finish it up. But I've always wanted a custom and this is a good start in my opinion. I just wanted to say thanks to chris moos and everyone who helped.

My 54 is getting chopped by Gene at the end of september. I can't wait!

Well, I guess there's nothing wrong with gettin the "A" Team involved. Great photos, great story, great car.

ONe of my buddies was there helping. He said he stayed on after everyone else left and helped Gene finish it. He was pumped.

Was your friends name Brian by chance? Thanks for the kind words junky. I got to spend some time at Frank Roberts house with Brian, Gene, Frank, and his lovely wife for dinner and ice cream sundays that Sunday. Most everyone was gone a little after 6:30 or so. We stayed on sat untill they made Gene, Jerry, and I stop at about 8:30 and the same on Sun. Keep us posted on the progress, I'll hound the shit out of you if you slack off.

don't yell at me, but what's the deal with that back window? In the field pictures its not shaped the same... yeah I know its chopped but its has rounded lower corners.

 

its a 50 window not a 51

 

there cheating a 50 back window is easier to do thats cool your merc got to be the patient!!

 

I like the look of the 49/50 back glass better than the 51.

i go back and forth... i have a 50 window frame i might put in mine also, just depends which day of the week it is!! NOW you need to get it finished and driving!!

Hey, I was at that class! (even made it into one of the pics!) What a great bunch and so much talent in that room for the two days. The only thing missing were the pin up models! LOL

I'll probably start a new post once I get some updates on the car. I'm trying to find someone to put the floor and rockers in. I won't have time for the next couple of months. Its killing me not being able to drive it. Maybe you should come up. You might like kentucky.
