What made you go back to the gold version rather than the blue one?

Yes it is a pearl. It was very hard to match but we finally got it right.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. That means a lot coming from you.

The gold was the original version. The blue seemed like an afterthought.

  3. Coming along very nicely. This is going to be a super cool restoration when done. I'm not so keen on the red but I understand the thought behind putting it back on. Glad you decided not to go with it on the fenders.

I am layed up with a back injury so I was able to snap all these pictures and take a few videos of the whole process. Enjoy.

(Click the picture and the video will open in a new window)

Not much to report pictures wise. Getting the body put together. All the wiring, door handles, windows and such. Should be putting the bed back on today or tomorrow.

    More very soon.

  8. Great thread, really enjoying it. The pickup is coming along very nicely.

  9. I love stumbling up on old customs and hot rods that have been sitting unmolested for years. very awsome find!

Beautiful! I hope somebody gets a picture of Gene's face when he see's it for the first time. Lookin at the Oct 62 pic it seems like the carb stacks have been reversed?

It was funny. When Gene was at our shop a few months ago. He just looked at the completed chassis and said "Did I do this??"

You are right about the carb stacks. They were reversed in that picture.

Well... The pinstriping is done. We got the bed mounted on the truck. Just waiting on fenders running boards and such.

I would have pictures but when I tried to turn my camera on I realized I left the battery on the charger at home. What a dumbass!

    Pics on friday night.

I know. I love it. I usually don't like pinstriping. It's almost always overdone. The more subtle the better!

  18. Wow, great job, although I enjoyed looking at it, at the last Round-up with it's cracking blue paint, this is awesome.

  19. WOW, just WOW. Awesome. Looks like the owner found the right shop to do the resto. Pat.

  21. I get a nice warm fuzzy feeling looking at this truck so it must be right. Did I miss the paint info? It sure looks like Pagan Gold.

Tha paint is a custom mix gold metallic. We color matched it to some spots of the original color that were behind some panels. Got luck that the sun and water didn't get to it first.

My cheap camera really doesn't do this truck justice. It looks so amazing in person. I walk into work every day and just stare at it. It really is wonderful.

We will be taking it on a cross country tour to all the major custom shows. I will post a tour schedule soon. If you are anywhere close to where we will be going it really is worth seeing in person.
