By the way, I literally wish I could start reproducing his Merc bodies and stuff. I’ve played with fibergl*** for many years. Dreams . . . It’s probably what I call a “zero billion dollar industry”.
This car belongs to my family. It was commissioned years ago by my father to recreate one of his favorite customs while growing up. He’s known Gene for decades. The car is not complete yet, that’s why the windows are covered and it still needs to be lowered a**** other small details. The car isn’t meant to be a shell or anything, it is simply being used to promote the custom made paint by the company that provides it for Gene. Our family name is listed as the owners in front of the car and it will get completed once the show is over and Gene’s health allows.
That's awesome, and I love it. I remember seeing pics of this car in an old magazine when I was a kid, the wheel openings remind me of the 60 Plymouth with the optional stone guards the way they're cut out. I thought that's what they were at the time, but now I can clearly see they're fully custom made.
Maybe an eye brow, not big enough to be a visor. I think this would grow on me if I saw it in person.
The original car used a windshield from a 53 Merc Monterey , those cars had a drip rail that ran down the sides and across the top of the windshield. I am sure that when the orig car was built the 53 windshield was used along with the metal around it including the drip rail area
I had a conversation with Gene a couple of years ago about the solar scene and he told me the original was wrecked and that he still had the interior from the original car
