The owner of the Jade Idol 2 is Bob Fryz. The planned Gene Winfield Museum will be at Bob's place in Detroit.
I met Gene for the first time at an airport in TX . My Wife and I were on our way to AK . I was wondering around because of a long layover. I saw Gene sitting in a waiting area. I told Brenda who it was and with her encouragement I went and introduced myself. He stood up and greeted me like an old friend. We chatted a little while and took a couple pictures. Then in walked a couple other Kustomizers . He suggested that we all get a picture together. They were on their way to the KKOA show in Salina KS . I had stopped and visited with Him at the Tulsa show a couple times after that . He was a true Gentleman, Craftsman and a Positive mentor of his craft. RIP Gene
I'm not a Kustom guy but I did take Gene's fabrication class. He gave me the confidence to tackle my project and I can't begin to tell you how much I learned in two days. I like the man more than any of his cars. Thanks Gene and RIP.
