1959 Chevy Truck with a Delco Remy generator. Old generator bearings finally giving up. Had a very reputable shop overhaul it. Tested good. Put it on and money! Good charging and works good. I had to pull the generator off to re route the wire loom. No biggie. Put it all back on. No charge but the light does go out. Well, when you look close, the generator light is very very very faint. But it’s still on at all RPMs. I put a new voltage regulator on. No change. I flashed the generator by momentarily touching the battery to armature per the shop’s instructions. I’ve checked all my wiring and connections. What could cause the light to almost go out and NOT charge? Thanks.
How did you check the wiring and connections? Did you use a meter or just eyeball it? What was the last thing you did? Why did you have to reroute the wire loom? When you disconnected the wire harness/Gen did you make sure to have the battery disconnected first? What is the voltage of the battery itself?
How old is the wire loom? Maybe you created a short in the loom. I think it was the last thing you touched.
