So I got the generator out and the alternator in on my 63 Galaxie with and FE 352, no problem. I went with a Ford alternator instead of the gm 1 wire style set up. I checked all the wiring diagrams I could find and thought I had it wired right. Got in, turned the key and she fired right up. Seemed fine until I shut it down, then the old GEN light would not turn off. So I switched the wires around on the back of the alternator, started fine but then the GEN light would stay on the whole time it was running, but would shut off when I shut the car down. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Try the old diode in the exciter wire trick. In The white wire on GM.

Got it done. Got one of those tiny voltage regulators that mount to the back of the alternator, easy peasy.
