I've got a 55 buick with a 264 and am wanting to change to a single wire alternator. How do I go about wiring it in so everthing still works.
if you use a 1 wire alternator, then you won't have an idiot light working (***uming it has an idiot light, not a gage). If you want to make the idiot light work then use a normal 3 wire alternator. to wire up the 1 wire, all you do is connect the output terminal of the alternator to the BATT wire, and take out all the other stuff that you don't need any more. To wire up a 3 wire internal regulator GM alternator, you have to do the same to the BATT wire, but also connect a jumper wire from the output (screw) terminal to the 2 terminal and connect the wire from the idiot light to the 1 terminal.

There have been some great articles posted. The question is, how to save them for future reference? You could print them out, but why not save them on your computer? You don't want to save them as html because that creates a bunch of folders and ****. Instead, if you are running Internet Explorer (sorry Mac/Netscape guys), you can save it as an MHT file. MHT files take all of the text and photographs and save it as a single file. Easy access for later! Here's how (it's pretty simple): 1) Click on the page you want to save. 2) When the page has loaded, click the File\Save As menu in IE. 3) On the save as window, select the Web Archive, single file (*.mht) selection. 4) Click on the Save ****on. The entire page (images and text) are now saved in a single file for later use. -Rob
