Does anyone out there have any experience with Gennie Shifters? They just came out with a new shifter handle that looks pretty good. Drilled and polished aliminum handle. Problem is it is only compatible with their shifters. My main concern is how they are gated, and if they are suitable for dragstrip use. Has anyone ever tried to use one in a racing application? I realize that it isn't a ratchet shifter, and I've emailed Gennie Shifters twice, but they don't seem to want or care to email me back. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
while they make a nice shifter, i wouldn't use them for drag racing, it's pretty easy to hit reverse when you don't want to.
i bought the Gennie shifter for my `28 Tudor in 1991 and it has performed great for street use. i do see that they have changed the gate function since mine was made,i heard rumors of them jumping into reverse by themselves..does anyone know if that is true? with mine , if you were shifting manually i don't think you could hit reverse by accident , but hitting neutral when going from 2 to 3 to would be likely. it's on a TH350
I wouldn't use anything else for a street driven hot rod but for drag racing there are more compatible units available. I believe a ratchet style would be the most fool proof in that environment. Frank
