There will never be another George Jones.

A few years back we saw him at the Alabama Theatre in South Carolina. He came out on stage and said something like "This ain't gonna be no Garth Brooks show. Ain't nobody gonna be runnin' around the stage. I'm gonna stand here in one place and sing some good old country music". And then him and the "Jones Boys" did just that. I'll never forget him.

My wife and I watched a few George Jones videos today.

Neither of us could help tearing up a little bit.

God bless good ol' George Jones.

Point well taken, but you can't deny that it's a loss. So allow folks to grieve a little...it's only natural. But at the same time we can celebrate his life and all he gave us...and know that George and the rest of us will meet up in heaven before too very long.

I had the good fortune of seeing him twice. Once in Victoria, and once at the Paramount in Seattle, both great shows. He voiced his displeasure in the "lack of good cheatin' and drinkin' songs, in today's music" (his words), then proceeded to play some of his greatest.
It's a shame he couldn't make it until November when he had a big farewell show planned for him at the Opry.
There's nothing better, once you've heard the best.

Traditional country music at its finest!

Went to see him years ago, but he pulled a "No Show Jones". Everly Bros. filled in at the
last minute, (and a bit late). Not quite the same venue; but they put on a good show. Promoter offered refunds....

R.I.P. George. Great music. Read a biography about Hank Williams & it mentions that Hank served as George's "role model". Both legendary "No show" artists. Also read George asked Merle Haggard to fill in for him one time when he was on a bender. He promised he'd be there the next night. Of course he didn't show up. Next they met was at some award show & the Possum sat right behind Merle. Merle said he was still pissed. Ole George leaned forward & asked Merle to forgive him in his best low southern drawl. The Hag just said, "how could you stay mad at Ole George".

    R.I.P. George.

"George might show up flyin' high, if George shows up at all

But he may be, unconsciously, the greatest of them all

From the Beatles and me in Nashville, to the billies and the Rolling Stones

If we all sounded like we wanted to, we'd all sound like George Jones"

    Waylon Jennings.
