I hope that Geno won't be too upset if I break the news to the group that he has been under the weather for the last couple of weeks, and is confined to the compound and banished from the garage for the forseeable future. As we get older (Geno's words, not mine) we become subject to all sorts of sneaky diseases. As another of my friends once said, "gettin' older ain't for pussies." How true. Anyhow, one of the more sneaky ones crept up on Geno and caused him to have a mini-stroke, a warning of perhaps more to come if he does not take care of himself. I just wanted to let the group know that Geno, forever humble, would probably appreciate a PM or two to wish him a rapid recovery. He's in great spirits, but very anxious to get back to his Ford and, of course, his latest project, the "Yardart Special". Get better soon, Geno. We're all thinking of you and praying for your rapid recovery. Eric
Oh man, that is ****py news! I hope you are feeling better Geno- we sure appreciate you around here. Get well.
Take care of yourself, Geno. I had a triple byp*** my self a little over 2 years ago. It makes you realize that some times you have to slow down and take care if you want to live the good life and enjoy.
Hope Gino gets back on his feet real soon . I have just gotten over a very nasty cold myself and my tonsils were swollen the size of 1" balls on both of them . Was very painful and had trouble swallowing as well . Had that for 6 days but seems to be getting better know . The flu is running around all over the country pretty bad right now so everyone take care and stay healthy ! Jim
Hope you have a quick recovery Geno! Take care and get back to us when possible. Keep us updated too if you can, or if anyone can for that matter. Rocky
Hope you get feeling better soon Geno, come the end of Febuary when I have my surgery I'm counting on you to help keep these guys in line.
Cars are fun, they aren't worth dying for. My grandmother and grandfather were both taken by strokes, its a terrible thing, and I hope you get better Geno. Eat better, do whatever you gotta'. You're in my thoughts man, just take it easy.
Wow, what a horrible scary thing to have gone through. I hope Geno gets through okay. I think that last year he broke an arm or had surgery or both. Man what a tough guy to have dealt with all this and still want to get out to the garage. You have to admire that kind of spirit.
Hey Geno, get well quick! Another cruise season is coming soon, hoping you'll be okay in time to enjoy it. Ron
You guys are great! Thanks so much for all your thoughts. I'm doing better and most of that is support from friends here and all over..... makes a guy a bit misty eyed! For those of you that are at the "experienced" age.... pay attention of what your body is telling you. TIA mini strokes are not to be ignored at all. They are the "Yellow light" before the red light. I encourage you guys that are 50 and older to check out "TIA stroke" on google or bing..... I could try to explain but.... I can't even load a picture on here let alone explain TIAs. I've recovered pretty well from my shoulder surgery that re-attached my two bicept tendons, my deltoid tendon and tricept tendon..... tore that up shoulder up real good! I have a surgery scheduled for a rotator cuff tear on my left shoulder in June...... ****.... I'm just plain used up from 35 years of building power lines climbing poles and steel towers! Trouble is... I actually love what I do and don't want to quit. I suppoose it has to do with the guys I work with. These guys take care of the "Old Gray Wise One" !!! Most of the crews I work with are in their mid to late 30's and tap into what's left of my brain for knowledge.... I used to be all braun and no brain but now I have very little braun left, so.... now they are using up the brain. One of my workers told me that when the brain is empty.... I'll get left along the road waiting for someone to shovel me up. Thanks again guys, Geno
Like Clint Eastwood once said " A man needs to know His limitations" as we get older our parts are like these old Fords they wear out and need replacements. We don't always do the right things for our bodies till it's too late hard labor jobs can mess folks up I have had two hernias, tore the tendon in my forearm and the final straw was blowing my knee out which caused me to retire a year early.
