"I like the pantera look on that car..." I'd never noticed it before, but yeah... curved windshield, two doors, upright back window. I see the similarity now.
Im with this guy...trucks arnt that bad to do. bed, cab and front end all all separate so it makes it easier
Depends on what you want. done it both ways. I got rid of the ones I didn't restore. Just seem to always be doing something to them. Like dad said do it right the first time and then you don't have to do it again.
I took my 37 Chevy p/u apart in 76 and it did not see the road untill 2000 so I say get it running and drive it for awhile.
I've been on both sides of the fence.... I drove and wrenched on my truck for years...I was never really happy with it scince it didnt fit my vision. I pulled it off the road and did a frame up...and ended up redoing most of what I did the first time (updates over ten years and rebuilding stuff that was worn after ten years of driving) Personally, I'm with your pop, if you gotta hard on for this thing and you feel the fire in your chest about this build, do it once and do it right. I gave myself a year for a frame off, by the time it's done it'll be two years....and like my pop said, take the amout of time you think it'll take and double it and you'll be correct.....he was right. BUT when it's done, it'll fit the vision I had from day one and I can finally wrench on somethin else.
To go against the grain, it's been sitting 30 years. If you don't have the money to take it apart and do it right, do you have the money to do it twice? or the motivation? Even if you don't do the body and paint right now, you're going to, at minimum, do the gas tank, gas lines, brakes, brake lines, carb, shocks, tires, hoses and belts just to get it on the road. Unless you do it in it's finished form, you'll pay and do most of this again. Do it once, do it right. Father knows best.
