Funny you should mention silver. I was thinking the same thing but didn't know how it would look. Next I really want to get the front end down. And find two more wheels. And get those three carbs rebuilt and installed. That ought to hold me til spring, lol.

Thanks. I'm trying, lol. I get by with a little help from my friends.

lower the front a little. and paint the front wheels shiny grey until you find some more chrome wheels.

    Thanks Joe!

You now that song by Bonnie Raitt "I can't make you love me"? Well I can make you love the front end lowered. Trust me. When you see it, you'll wish you married my truck. But don't you get any ideas. This truck is MY mistress. And I'm a jealous lover.

Thanks Brett. He'll come around when he sees in reality what I see in my head. And for the record, boobie liked the pipes under the front fenders like traditional lake pipes. So yeah, what does he know, lol. :D

I honestly don't know what I'll do with the front wheels til I find more chrome?

    Thanks Rich!

I like the idea of the front end being lower because aesthetically it's probably a better choice. But the waay it sits right now it's actually more appropriate. I don't know dude, I can totally see the painted Oil, Gas and Water cans in the back of a upholstered bed with some really nice Pearl Gold and green paint etc.....and when I see all that I can't help but see it with the stance you have right now. It's just ....right?

  11. Thank you.

Haven't posted much lately. Or done much for that matter. But I broke a wheel stud when I switched out the tires. Me and Deltron fixed that a couple of weeks ago. Took a torch to get it out. What would I do without Del? Thanks buddy!

Just before that, I had tried hammering out that wheel stud at home with no luck. But just before that, I removed the hub to get to the wheel stud and the brake pad material fell out. It had seperated from the shoes. So I installed new shoes in the rear and adjusted them.

I am in the process of making a deal for a drop axle and new kingpins. So as long as the price is right, I'll do that instead of flipping the axle. I hope the front brakes are not gonna fall out too, lol. :D

Big weekend for the truck and the club in a couple of days. Iron Lords are doing it big for Goodguys Charlotte, NC. If you are in the area, we're having an open house at the shop Friday night. Come by and say hey...

    Day after tomorrow!!!

You're not kidding. My oldest daughter has kept me busier than a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Its six days a week between cheer, band and student council. Wednesday nights keeps me sort of sane, lol. But not much. :D

So I bought that drop axle from a fellow hamb'er. Its a 3" drop from Sid's with new king pins. It should be here in a week or so. Perfect stance and pics to follow shortly after.

I also scored some tail lights at the swap meet this weekend. These will be frenched into the rear fenders along with eliminating the rear bumper (and some other simple mods) for a smoother look back there. Details soon...

You just don't know how stoked this guy is about his truck! He and the rest of his band of merry gentlemen have some great rides and love working on them. Is it a 32 5-window....no! But it's his and he loves it!

Slow and steady wins the race. I've seen many rushed projects.......usually end up in the junkyard. ;)

THanks Leonard. I hope my front will be as low as yours. I figured it'd be easier in the long run with using the dropped axle vs. flipping, especially since I came accross such a good deal. Plus I can send Sid a core.

I have to tell you, this is about passion for me. I put my heart and soul into this truck. And when its done, you'll be able to tell. This is my truck masterpiece. 50 year old obsolete parts aren't easy to find or cheap. Quality takes time. Coming correct is what it is all about. And I can't and won't rush that. Everything is already done in my head. But there is an order and a method to the madness.

I post what may seem like mindless minutia quite a bit in this thread. But its only in the hopes it will help some other poor sucker who comes accross the same issues.

Now, if you want to donate body work, paint work, interior work, or chrome work, things can move a lot faster. :D

See Moon, Brett gets me. He knows me and my people personally. He knows what we are about. We do everything ourselves and help each other. We are living the dream.

You're totally right. I put a lot of time and thought into what I do. And I'm happier for it.
