If that is the stuff I think it is, rumours have been floating around here about an auction for the last year at least. Not sure when the pics were taken but a lot of it has been moved to another location. I'll post the location and time if it actually ever happens.

  6. A lot, I used to fly and maintain them for the Army Guard in Alaska. They will pick 21,000 pounds dead lift. Ours were Sikorskys. CH 54B models, they had the bigger engines, easy to recognize as the B models had dual tires on the main gear. Not cheap to fly!!

...can someone PM me and tell me where this place is? I'm 10 miles from Claremore. I might be able to scrape up a few bucks and maybe a trailer or ten!...

Auctions don't always end well for everyone.
A local machine shop auctioned their equipment in lots, most of the lots were won by metal scrappers.
Numerous Bridgeports and milling machines are now being transformed into steel pipe in Chekoslovakia for resale in the good ol' U.S.A..
I would suggest going to the auction with enough dough to purchase 8-10 of those specimens.

  13. Yeah, I think a big bunch of guys should go to the auction, collude a little on the bidding so you don't blow all your money - usually by the end stuff goes for pennies on the dollar. Even if scrap guys show up, they want to make money too, so it won't go super high. There was an auction like that here 10 years ago, my friend was telling me you could buy entire rooms of old car parts for $5 or $10 out of this guy's house - he'd been hoarding for 60 years or so at that point. A junkyard did an auction like that a couple years ago, too, scrap guys were buying whole sections of cars for a couple hundred bucks. Just buy everything that's cheap, stash it somewhere and list it on here for everyone else - mark it up and make a little money on it while you're at it. Maybe you'll have 30 days to get it out of there, just need one guy with a farm or big lot to stash it on while you sort out what to keep and sell the rest off.

And if anyone finds a 40-42 Hudson short wheelbase car hood, I could use one, they don't grow on trees so... for that matter, a top skin for a '39 Chevy, either coupe or front half of a sedan, would be nice too.

Reminds me of the dam they built around here with 30's and 40's iron from junkyards that wanted "newer" vehicles.....

Paging Mr. Ryan.............your trim that you have been searching for........

The sad thing about it is, most of the stuff will be bought up by someone with a lot of coin to drag it to the crusher. That happened a couple of years back with a junkyard auction in Lebo, Kansas......70% of the cars sold for $65 dollars and got crushed after two weeks. My pops and I went down there for two weeks straight pulling Carbs/F1 shock mounts/body trim/ 2x2 intakes/ and taillights and headlights and driving to the guys house and getting most of it for a song.
