Right on Gooch! And I own a Mopar Musclecar, a Black '69 440 6-pack Roadrunner.....looks great! (Next to my '34 coupe!)
Yeah,I'm sick of them too!,,,,,I think I'll sell both of them and by another VW! The only reason I can justify owning any car is because I want it! The 32 Ford IS a TRADITIONAL HOT ROD!
If you have a 32 ford and your sick of it.I will gladley take it off your hands I will never get sick of any year, make or model of hotrod.....each one is unique in it's own way.....even the stockers......I just have a massive appetite for all things ford (uuhh..72 and down.)
Lilbill, I felt the same way. Now I own one. I did not look for it, it found me. Never planned on keeping it, it is for sale. But, if it don't sell, I am making plans to make it mine. It ia hard to build any other car, other than a tri5 or camaro that is saleable as the 32 No matter what you do to a 32, it will still sell. There is a larger market for them.
when something is right, it's just right. there is no other explanation. when i go to a car show i see more "other" cars than i see '32's. so i guess '32's are still the minority. when something never goes out of style, it's right.
i like 32's. i especially like the style of the frame rails. but its getting a little old, everyone wanting one. it will always be that way though. 32's are the 'ultimate' hot rod. everyone wants a 32 or a model a. its evident here too. i can post pictures of my car, get maybe 4 responses. another dude with an a gets about 3 pages. everyone wants to see something different, as long as its a different a or 32. trey
[ QUOTE ] i'm not sick of them yet , and `32 fords is how i make a living [/ QUOTE ] does that mean you had something to do with THAT '32?? We drooled over that for quite some time Saturday.
hey, thanks for drooling ...it took quite a while to clean it off! i'm the builder and was a passenger on saturday...the guy driving is a friend and is who i built it for..not bad for a 150 day build? we met Carl at the GG event while he was pimping the Cheaters show and he invited us out ...i'm glad we went,we had a good time...even though we never got the FREE t-shirts Carl promised us for showing up
[ QUOTE ] Time to move on to the next fad! [/ QUOTE ] seventy two years is long enough! the '32 Ford is not my dream car, but I would trade all my hot rod crap for the right one.. in a heartbeat. Paul
Roger, I have to tell you this story. I just returned from driving my 32 after taking the wheel spacers off to test if the tires would get into the body. My neighbor just west of me was washing his car and he and I chatted for a while. Now, he is an old car guy and a Ford guy, to boot. He was commenting favorably on the Burger and Fry event last Friday. He said he was especially fond of the two tone green Lincoln Zeypher setting across the street. Guess whose Studebaker he was referring to?
any one that's sick of there 32's or 32 parts give me a call! i'd love to help you out. there is only one thing better than a 32 and that's two 32's
i didn't say i didn't LIKE them, i said i'm getting burned out seeing them all over these "rod builder" shows. any halfwit with deep pockets can get some catalogs and throw together a '32 clone. it's like these biker wannabes and their cookie cutter "choppers". a '32 hiboy or chopped coupe (a real one) is a very good looking car but it ain't the goddamn holy grail.

[/ QUOTE ] Thanx Jim...yep, most people usually think my Stude is a Zephyr...guess even old Ford guys fail to give another make its due...especially when they cannot see the "Lazy S" ornament on the front... And Vaphead, so far, NO ONE has explained the attraction of a '32 Ford satisfactorily to me...and I've seen a ton of hot rods/street rods and every '32 I've seen looks exactly like the next one (including YOURS)...even the one Troy Trepanier built...there's no mistaking that it is a '32 Ford...hmmmmm, maybe that is it's ONLY attraction? Rog,to quote you "I grew up when these cars were the only true hot rod.." The car was the base for the whole hot rod movement. It was the car to build, and it now is tradition. SIMPLE.
I hear ya buddy, they don't really do it for me either. I prefer A's and '33-34s over them. But they're undeniably the quintessential hot rod, no doubt about it. They've always been the most popular, probably because they're one-year only and the first V8. Which reminds me, I saw this frame on the grounds of the Planes of Fame Museum in Chino CA a while back. I don't know enough to identify a chassis by sight, but it does appear to have Ford V8 wheels on it.

[/ QUOTE ] Maybe...but the other nite you said "these '32s are so SIMPLE to build...nothing like (and you were referring to BobK's Chevy, so I'll add my own words here building a later model car. Is that what the attraction is: SIMPLICITY? Someone should tell Jimmy Shine that then...Sunday nite he was worried about a re-popped hood not fitting on a re-popped body and a re-popped grille shell on a half-a-million-dollars to build '32 and he couldn't figure out HOW that happened! Duh! To me, half a million dollars isn't simplicity. R-
Personally I never really cared for Deuces. Let me rephrase that, I never really wanted to own one. They're cool but I've always been one to steer away from trendy cars and they have been trendy as long as I can remember. Today you see so many because as a rule they are kit cars, the pro-builders, no offense to you guys that are really buildin cars, but the guys that jumped on the 1 800 hot rod band wagon, can buy 'em and pop 'em out like babies in the ghetto. Now show me a real deuce, set up really right, a no BS bare bones hot rod, and I'm impressed. I still don't want one for myself, but I can appreciate a well built, got it in spades, hot rod when I see one. Even a deuce.
The only '32 Ford that ever made me sick is the five window that I sold in 1998. That one makes me real sick. JH
Yup,my car is simple. All old Ford parts.Basicilly bolts together.Heat and bend a few things. My remark was towards (was not a insult)full body postwar car.Things like window regs, folding top, independent front ends, heaters, gas gauge, turn signals, seat tracks, fenders, hood, all things my car does not have. Makes a plain hot rod like mine,well..simple.
I get tired of seeing imports and mini trucks, I get tired of each model year looking like the previous.....other than that I could never get tired of early model stuff you know pre 63 stuff, things just started getting boxy with not as much soul or artistic lines just boxes with wheels and engines........I don't care too much for Boyds stuff its the same way only in disguise....cookie cuter.......it lacks soul somehow.......when someone builds something a little peice of them goes into like it or not but with Boyds stuff its.....well, lacking life almost robotic........does this sound insane to you......oh and lilbill are you gonna make it to Ft. Smith?
