I've come close to owning a deuce a couple of times...but I have never felt the asking price was even close to reasonable....Too much work...too much rust...too much money..too big of a dickhead selling what they thought was worth a million bucks. I'm perfectly happy with what I drive and wouldn't change a thing.

I don't need a deuce....but would buy one if the right deal came along. It's just not a top priority.

JYDog...watch pickin on the Chevy pick ups!! [IMG]I'd sell my 32 before I would even think of sellin my pick up.

Nope, that wasn't my point... Just putting a shine on the idea that people who rag on something are usually the ones who don't have one...

SCALLOP53's truck is one of my most favorite hot rods on the planet... but I don't see him on here rippin on shit.
I'm sick of vanilla ice cream, but you don't see me bitchin. I'll just buy chocolate next time.

My first reply wasn't rude or agressive... Was it?
I don't think it warranted the response it got from you LILBILL.
I'll assume you were just spoiling for a fight (otherwise you'd have thought about the subject just a little harder) and I presented a target.

For what it's worth... I don't mind glass cars... just not in my garage.

...and '32 Fords rule the mother fucking world...!

You'll never pay too much for a Deuce...you just buy it too soon.

I couldn't afford one when they were 5000. for a show car. When I could afford 5000. they were 10,000. etc. etc. I got tired of lusting after someone elses car. I paid too much for the sport coupe which would be a steal today. I paid too much for the roadster. Both cases I borrowed the money. There would be a long line to buy the roadster for what I paid. I did what I had to do. Only those with the passion will understand. Thank the lord they aren't for everyone.

I just don't feel you can put these two vehicles in the same context. Chevy pickups are some of the coolest pickups around. Maybe not an original hot rod and originally a working farm vehicle. But they have one good looking view when done right. Just harrassing you now. Don't get excited. [IMG]

5. Ha ha ha... Sorry.
I got that from LILBILL's intro

That's funny! You guys thought... [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
Hell no... I'm looking for a 50's Chev right now...
...to go with my (THREE) '32 Fords. [IMG]

6. JYDog...just givin you a hard time. I pretty much like all old cars. Even some that shouldn't be liked. I don't think I was ripping up 32s just making an observation that most 32 owners are stuck in a rut with them. I like seeing different stuff being done. Not that a black car with red wheels is bad there just happens to be too many of them. Simple things like a different chop, different stance, New paint schemes and more need to be done. I'm not one to like channelled cars but I like Tom Branch's car cause it's just a little different. Tommy's sport coupe is cool cause it's a sport coupe. I'd still like it if it was a coupe or a roadster but it wouldn't stand out like it does. Even though the color is ugly on the new Troy roadster it helps to make the car. If it was black it would be a beautiful car but it would loose some of the apeal it has now. My coupe is more than likely going to be black but I hope the rest of the stuff I do will set it apart from the rest of the 32 coupes.

I was serious about my 32 going before my pick up. It's a sentamental thing more than anything. I've had the truck for 15 years and been everyplace with it.

I know where you are on that. Like I said, my 5-window was just about always mine. When dad brought it home, he told me it was going to be mine, and it was. We hauled junk parts for years.
Even after the fire I couldn't sell it. Someone offered me $10,000 for the salvage. Couldn't do it. Hell, I'd let the bank have my house before I'd sell that car.
This one?
Throw me a figure...

I have another sedan body, just about as sentimental as the coupe.... It won't be for sale unless the IRS finds me. [IMG]

Some cars mean something and some don't.

OK Time to weigh in with my opinion.
I lke and have owned a large variety of old cars,I just prefer old Fords especially 32,s.
I,ve owned my roadster 22 years and shipped it half way around the world when I moved.I don,t give a rats ass what it,s worth or what other people think of it,just bury me in it when I die.
I think the popularity of 32,s is due to the tradition and history involved and the fact that they are a good looking car.Remove the fenders and they still look cool.
Hey Roger,I think you are just a Diehard custom guy.

I hope you don't really mean that.
I understand that you love your car as much as you do, but that same car can be just as special to somebody else after you die.
At least 2 of the former owners of cars I have are not alive anymore.
And when I kick the bucket, it will be somebody else's turn...

No doubt about that, AuzzieSteve...back when I was in high school -- 1957-1961, kustom car mags on the newstand shelf took precedence over "Hot Rod" mag...living in Iowa, I didn't have money to build anything back then and I drove my Dad's '49 Merc...since Merc's were kustom fodder...I got hooked.

I like hot rods of all kinds...including '32 Fords, but have NEVER had a desire to jump in the middle of a pool filled with '32 Fords. I'd like to think I'm an individual that does not follow a crowd, you know: green vs. red, shiny paint vs. primer, hubcaps vs. billets, orphan makes vs. Ford, driver vs. trailers. Yeah, Yeah...we all march to a different drummer!!!

For what it's worth, I hereby DEED my share of 1932 FORDS to you!

Since when was a 32 the FIRST V-8 car? News to me......Cadillac predated Ford by 17 (or was it 15?) years with their V-8. Maybe Rolls Royce did too.

I'd love a 32, by the way. Steel only, so not likely to happen for a while. [IMG]

True.......that's what I thought.......

The 32 Ford had the first affordable V8............that the common people could buy. Caddy had the V8, V12 AND the V16 before Ford had his V8. Lincoln and some other "high end" cars were V8's. [IMG]

This may come as a shock..........but I also am tired of seeing 32 Fords. Not real ones..... [IMG] just all the "sorta" 32 Fords.

Zipper 32 [IMG]
Harwoods 'long door roadster' [IMG]
The 'improved' 32's ............like the Dearborn Deuce, Boydsters ect.

I asked the Wescott son, at the NSRA Nats a few years back, How many Wescott 32 roadsters had they made? He said " less than 1000.....and you know some of them are not finished or on the road" .............

Throw in Brookville, Gibbons and all THE REST and you are looking at less than 5 thousand repro roadsters......and that's being real loose on the estimate.

Take away a few for ' UNDER CONSTRUCTION ' and we're at 4500 or so. That's still less than half of Ford's production in 1932.

I have owned mine for over 25 years. Saw it at Gatlinburg TN in 1969. Know it's history back to 1941.

Wish everyone hated them...........so I could afford to buy few more...... [IMG]

There's nothing wrong with 32's... nice cars. But after going to shows and runs, you become immune to them. Same with 55 and 56 and even 57 Chevies for me. Somehow I'm still tipped over when I see a great 49 Merc. I'm still not tired of those and maybe never will be.
Its the seldom seen stuff that still turns my head.. Chopped Volkswagons, 52 Chevies , 54 Fords, 58 Chevies and some of that fat fendered 30's stuff.
Nothing wrong with a 32 Ford, just seen too many of em I guess.

If you are sick of seeing the repop Fords and can't afford the steel ones, check out the two original REO coupes on Ebay and the Buick Coupe (all 1930-1933 models). Still lots of neat other stuff out there. I love it all.
