Brought mine with a floor. Found the body was out of square by two inches.

Complete new floor, subrails and the first 8" of the body and doors.

Oh yes and the rear valance and above the windshield:D

Look at it one piece at a time and it isn't that bad:cool:

It's only metal. I know when I saw my 55 for the first time, I almost agreed with the owner that it should have gone over a bank or been crushed but I got convinced that I'd be driving it in a year. Damn near new everything underneath from front to back plus wiring and fuel system, rear end, engine etc. You name it, it got replaced except for the toe board and tunnel. The car had been almost totally taken apart and the rear 1/4s cut in half with a torch lengthwise from front to back. Tackle one piece at a time and before you know it, it's gonna start looking like a car again

i found out when digging further and further into a car. what you find could only get worse. never seems something is better than what you would have expected.

example: it is unlikely you take out your back seat to find out your car has a chrome plated floor.

don't get discouraged..at least you can work on your car...My whole life is in boxes and storage...tools, projects, everything...I get up everyday and work...thankfully. Knowing it'll be "my" time eventually.

Hell you have more than my truck has ! I have a 37 Plymouth p/u truck that has NO floors and was all rotted out completely and the bottom of the doors and cab are rusted out 6" up , so you have it way better than mine is .
Just be glad you found it out now and not later when you are wondering where all the fumes are coming from in the car ! That shouldn't be a bad fix really . You can do it ! :D
Just take you time but wait till you get better !
You really don't want to be welding in your condition right now !

Cancer in cars is curable. There will always be something... I know 1st hand. Just keep pushing forward.

  11. If fixing up old cars was easy everyone would be doing it! :D

  12. Hell, my '34 didn't even have floors, or floor structure, or body mounts, or jams... It just depends on how bad you want it. You can do it! You can do it all night long!

I got my '59 F100 running for all of about 6 weeks. In that time I had the clutch explode, brakes went to ****, clutch master blew, and I spent the money to repair it all and then found out that the motor was no longer holding up oil pressure. (*&(*@#$^&*^!!!

Now I am working on stuffing a 400 in the engine bay. And I have to replace all the **** like a new 4bbl, new fuel pump, water pump ignition.......
