Seeing as you resurrected it, I found out that the state of CT has minimum 4" ground clearance regulation.:(

In the rear, I welded 5 inch axle pads to my 8 inch rear, and use air shocks, adjust as needed. Let the air out and sit on the cut down bump stops. Can use a hand pump to raise it...............OLDBEET

The flipped shackels must be a typo or possibly the car was purchased with the shackel pointing down. I could picture in the days of the raked mercs, someone might jack up the rear, and crowbar the shackel so the U shaped frame bracket is on top, the shackel points down, and the spring is below the U shaped frame bracket. So theoretically speaking, would the shackel stay in that downward position during normal operation??

Well I just got off the phone with Jamco. I ordered a set of 4" drop springs that I will be using 4" blocks with. I should have pics of how it sits before next weekend. The 4" drop spring sounds like it is a 3" drop spring with a reverse eye on the shackle end. They were great to deal with on the phone so if the springs get here in a timely manner I will defiantly give the company a thumbs up.

  24. Eyeball, didja get those springs put in yet? I wanna see a before and after pic. I think I might be ordering a set within a few weeks.

The springs are in. I spent the night modifying the lower spring/shock mounts for the 3" axle tube and u bolts. I also got the uprights flipped and 1" blocks installed in the front. It should be on the ground this weekend.

Jamco got me the springs and u bolts in less than a week but forgot to send the new shackles and bushings but they showed up last Friday. So all in all the service from them was pretty good.

Here are a few pics. You can see it is a much shallower spring you can also see that my old spring were junk and fell apart when I pulled the u bolts.

How much where the springs. I am building a 51 lincoln for a customer and was thinking about going the same route to sit the car down a bit.
