dont ever let friends near your tools. one of my buddies tried to cut a hole in the hood for a set of hood scoops i got for my grand prix, but he tried to put them on the 49. i heard the grinder wheel going and i just walked out and yelled at him.

didn't say anything about weight...I think the flattie may weigh MORE...

and yeah-valid point about slowing down from 60-except that would have been wound waaay out for the stock Flattie, and a touch under cruising speed for the big block. I bet it's loads of fun around 90 or so...
I am occasionally on the brakes and the gas at the same time...but only when seeing how long it takes to fill my floor of the parking garage with tire smoke.:D

yeah, its fun to wind that BB up, it layed down some smoke, then i looked to see they are vintage bias-plys. so no more roasting for now.
hey, i know it aint much but its my first cl***ic, not only is it the first thing in my name, but its the first thing i've owned older then 1990.
i hope to put a lot into it, make it something special.

yeah, the rear bumpers a beefy one, its handmade.
its stopping better now. i udjusted the brakes & topped off the fluid. its still 49 original, i gotta keep that in mind, but they are getting better. just mounted the original 'Magic Air' heater in it, after painting it up nice. hooked up a horn, an old cadillac one, because you need one around here with some of the idiots. started running the wires for the brake lights. gonna pull the set up off my buddies 52 buick, the duel peak oval ones. then im hitting up the junkyard to grab a bumper for the front off of something in the back lot.
all i need now is to make or cut out a pannel to fill the butchered dash.

my hopes are to get the brake lights installed soon, i gotta talk to my buddy to see if i can pull off the ***ebly from his 51' buick, then i gotta work my way through the spagetti mess of wires, then hope the original switch on the master cylnder still works.
then the top is comming down on it as soon as me and the guy who sold it to me roll & weld a piece of metal into the dash to cover the holes, then im thinking about 4"-5" off the top. weld a set of peraches to the other side of the front I-Beam to bring it down more. reweld the rear pearches to the other side of the axel so i can put blocks on them. and ill get pics of all the work along the way.

yeah, i know it seems like im always on here, i just wanna make sure anyone that does give a damn knows the progess. yeah, maybe im going a lil too fast, probally from exitment. but im getting the oddball things taken care of first, the brakes, axel, front and rear suspention are all the majors, they get taken care of last. you know, i know the back bumpers a lil eye sore like, but the fact that it was hand made and the fact it is so strong just fits with me. and im just looking for a full bumper on the front to give it the shop truck/pusher look. the scallops are a go most definatly. then the door will have my own spin on the shop truck lettering. then the chop job, i think i've setteled at 4". the inside is gonna get some simple covers for the door openings, a pan to cover the open dash. sand down the glue/**** off the inside roof and spray it gloss/flat black. then new gl*** since the originals are breaking more each day.
and also, if anyone has a drop axel for my truck, id be willing to trade some parts, i got a flathead rad, and 56 bel air axel, a few intakes & carbs, some brake drums W/spindels, a set of 56' front coils & a chevy posi pig. tell me if your interested for the parts, even if you dont have the axel ill sell em cheap.

im debating on the tail lights, i want to put some off an old vega, the small rectangel ones, but i only have one left from my dads 34' he had. and its been hell trying to find another thats not smashed to bits or cheap, any help, would be very much apreciated.
for turn signals, im either gonna get some off a 79' cadillac and put them next to the headlights or get a pair ot the teardrop lights that go on top of heavy trucks and mount themon top of the fenders. or something else i dunno.
collage has taken a hard hit into my work on the truck now, tuesdays and thursdays are shot to hell.

so the brake plan goes like this, they are getting updated, to brand new, i was gonna piece it and rebuild the workings, but dad doesnt want to chance it so hes gonna fork over the half of the cash i dont have for a MPB brake kit for the truck, comes with the works. its one of thouse things you know you cant aurgue about. then when the rear end gets swapped im getting a drum upgrade for that too. hey, if the only thing modern on its the brakes, why complain.
