Featured Hot Rods Getting ready to review anew TV show...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Fortunateson, Jan 8, 2025.

  1. Wow! With it being originally customized in Michigan and Tim Allen being from Michigan and all the Michigan history (Dick Dean, Bill Hines, Downriver Modifieds, etc ) , I'm very surprised he did that. The last Michigan owner was Jack Pieknik before it went to California. Jack bought it in 1974 and owned it for 30 some years.

Well since I’m the one that started this thread it’s time to make a comment/review...

I watched the first episode and was not impressed by a basically bickering theme. I watched the second and was offended when it started going after educational issues for fun it’s the “back in my day” attitude. The world is NOT they same as when we all grew up and educational issues are real! Shows a very real lack of understanding by the writers and producers...

I’m about to watch the third instalment and it better improve or I’m done. Mean spirited comedy is not my thing and is why I watch Canadian or British fare way more often.

I watched the first show, it was not very good. But I will give it another 3 shows to see if it gets better. I think they were just trying to introduce the characters, and the family dynamic.

I have seen a couple episodes now. Not terrible I suppose. But, considering how little tv I watch, I won’t go out of my way to watch it.

My brother worked around and with Tim Taylor when he worked for Saleen Mustang long time ago.
Tim is way toned down on all those TV shows . According to my brother who worked with Tim, in person, in real life, Tim is frickin crazy funnier than sh*t, and cusses better than a drunk sailor in a biker bar... LOL!

They should turn off the phony laugh track. Not every line is funny!

Admittedly, it's sometimes hard to tell who is holding the "smart stick".

  17. Watched the third episode, it was like the first two shows, it leaves a lot to be desired. HRP

I didn't watch it because figured it would be crap with a laugh track, but I did see a short clip elsewhere of him showing his Tripple Nickel 55 Ford. Very nice high-end build. Very much a Modern Wolf in Stock Sheep's Clothing.

Not HAMB friendly underpinnings, but gorgeous on the outside/interior.

He actually bought it it in 71, I helped him strip it a couple times and the metal work was really nice. It's a shame what has happened to it.

Home improvement was and still is one of my favorite tv shows... last man standing was alright... i watched and mostly enjoyed. Ill admit, i wished last man standing was more like shifting gears when it aired. Now shifting gears feels strangely like last man standing, even the home set looks like the same house but reversed? Its frusterating, definitely not as good as i wish it was. They need better writing. Tim the tool man taylor was never mean or crotchety. A lot of people loved that show. Shifting gears is just tough to swallow. Ill still watch it, tv sucks these days and how many times can you watch mash, andy griffith or hogans heros reruns? I hope it gets better before it gets cancelled

  26. I watched part of the first episode, can't see this show continuing.
Today, unlike when we were kids (4 or 5 stations), there are so many TV channels to choose from that any new show has to hit the ground running strong.
Certain areas of TV entertainment such as sports, endless news channels, game shows, etc., seem to survive.
As for sitcoms, there is very little time to build on the characters personalities to establish a fan base, if you can even get people to tune in for the first time.

I’m pretty well done with it. Maybe I’m just rather particular but I expect a comedy show to be funny and not condescending and mean spirited...
