Scott, I was going back through your thread and saw this pic of the vette and your comment.
I had to laugh because my wife wanted a picture of the 61 when I we got it out of the hibernation. I sent her this picture and said “don’t worry it looks better in person!” Lol

Man I only wish my car looked like your did before you started painting it! With that being said I’m super excited to see it with the new paint and new hood!

My car looked good in pictures but not up close.

 

I visited the vette today. The painter is back to full speed! I got a good look at the color sample it’s actually darker than it looks in the pic i posted earlier. In direct light it looks bright but in shade it’s fairly dark. I still love it. I’m considering using 58-60 tail lights, but i want to wait until it has the paint on it to make that call. Here’s a pic i swiped from the web that looks real cool but until i see the actual color on the car i won’t know.

Great color. I've had a few red cars over the years, got a red truck now. I'm not the philosophical type but I do feel a little different mood behind the wheel.

Years ago i had a red 60 vette. At the same time i had a red 55 chevy convertible and two red late model trucks AND the wife’s car was red! I was so sick of red i swore I would never own another red car. This color is far enough off of “red” that i like it. It’s more of a burgundy i would say.

 

Yep, those dark burgundy colors are hard to beat. Picking a color when you have the entire spectrum to choose from is though, I agonized over it for my Bantam last year (and finally painted it white lol). Another thing I've realized is no matter what color you paint it, 6 months later you'll see something going down the road and say Dammit!

The vette paint job is progressing nicely. I’m dead in the water due to minor surgery on left meat hook and elbow, right side should be cut next week. The out come of all this will determine my direction in the future. Every seems good now tho!

OK. I got a better visual on the paint color. It changes quite a bit depending on lighting. This is all the same part, he’s doing a Harley at work in the same paint. Then there’s the sample in bright direct light.

 

That looks spot on! We might have to talk paint codes when I get to that point. [emoji6]

The original hood hinges were worn out and not the best design to start with. The new improved aftermarket hinges are so much better. Not that you can see any of that from this pic but i just wanted to show a pic with the hood on.

 

What's up with the lifting or what in front of the hood?

 

I believe thats a heavy coat of dust

Getting exciting now!

 

Some nice detail work on the backside of the hood and deck lid. Also a door in the sun, i’m amazed at how much the color changes in different lighting.

 

I amazed you guys have sun up there! Lol
I keep going back to the picture of the hood and how nice even the underside looks!
