I’m with you Scott. I have had four vettes and even grew up in them. My favorite from when I was a kid was my dad’s 65 coupe. However, I actually liked it when it had slot mags, fender flares, and pinstriped flames better than when my dad put it back stock...

Man, cool story and definitely the keeper. I prefer the hot rods myself over stock any day. My buddy's older brother had a beautiful pearl white '63 convertible w/ black interior back about the same time I ran across that '53. Sixties on Cragers all the way around, hot 327 w/ 4-speed and chromed sidepipes. A week after I saw the car, he got drunk and wrapped it around a tree. He was one wild dude who passed way too early. Keep it between the ditches!

Well, if you don't have a Ford, I guess a 1st gen. Vette is the next best thing;):p.
I like the nearly 60 year family history, your Dad did good...but you did better, by taking it to a new level. Absolutely beautiful!!!

I've been following from the cheap seats. The Corvette turned out to be a real show stopper and you have to be proud and happy it is done...........mostly happy it is done. Great work!

  12. UPDATE!
this thread was started with my 56 belair then the vette took over. Well the 56 finally made it to the street. I’m still waiting on the headliner to be installed then the interior can go in.

Sweet, looks great! Did your donor car come with all those stainless side window surround moldings? Those are some of the hardest pieces to find, looks really good on the car all installed nice.

  16. Update on the 56 belair. The headliner finally got installed, i’ve been impatiently waiting for quite awhile. Now i can move forward on the interior installation. Damn i’m slow with these old cars!:D

Looks good. I've done a couple of Tri-5 headliners and they can be a bear. Especially if the windshield and rear window are already in and if the tack strips need to be replaced. This one looks like it's fitted nice and tight.

  18. I’m happy with it. I bought one that i didn’t like so i gave it to my guy to use as a pattern, we matched up the material from my door panels and he sewed it up and installed it. He does nice work but he’s a one man shop and stays busy.

  21. I have moved to general contractor position due to my lumbar fusion and general laziness. I did however pull an axle out of the 9” in the belair for new wheel studs. The belair AND the vette were both down for repair when my back decided i was done for a while. I start physical therapy in the morning so hopefully i can get back the car life soon. I did farm out some work on my not entirely HAMB friendly 49 Studebaker while i’ve been in sick bay. 55-9 chevy bumpers were fit along with a badass reese type hitch. The PO ( @lumpy 63 )had built a nice frame and trunnion set up for the tail gate, i found a beat up stude gate and my guy straightened the center and grafted it to Colin’s frame work. So pffft to you @Lloyd's paint & glass :D
Oh i won’t talk about the chevelle project:rolleyes:

And, sorry about the back. That is one thing that can pretty much debilitate a guy so I know that is no fun at all. :(

  25. The stude is one i’ve wanted for quite a while. @lumpy 63 gave me a great deal on a nice truck
