  4. That’s been my experience up till now. The main painter is partners in a body shop that does fancy motorcycle paint jobs. The shop was pretty full so i don’t think he’s starving! I think he just wants to help finance his blown injected alcohol burning race car.

  5. I think this addiction is why the painter is all over my job! 1C8A7802-8414-4228-AC92-0705736C6E5C.jpeg

  7. UPDATE: dash butchered, perfect trans tunnel butchered then repaired, firewall painted. The holes in the dash were filled to enable different holes. The trans tunnel had to be raised slightly to clear new fangled O/T transmission. Lots of other more mundane things done, these guys are the best! 9DEF851F-D4AA-4400-B9DF-E79A9E138C72.jpeg D68374CC-728F-4B52-9924-D21D0CEC46AE.jpeg 737ABF89-36FC-4545-AF53-E88BF9FF973C.jpeg

  8. The boys just sent me a cool picture. The 56 is coming along great. 8DD1F591-51B0-43D1-BB28-2E3AD92DA9AA.jpeg

  9. This is an “I’m bored” update, master cylinder bench bled and installed but waiting on some 3/16” SS tubing to plumb the line loc

  10. Love your stuff .. especially the formerly musty Corvette. :)

My dad had a "day 2" .. '67 Corvette convertible. 400 horse 427 4 speed car, upgraded with Mondello heads, Jardine headers, & Isky cam when new. Black, with red interior, red stinger stripe. Stored in air conditioned garages since 1967.

I called it the "no fun" car. 18k original miles, paint, interior, & everything else.

The dentist that had it .. also owned a '57 "beater" Corvette that he had repainted Sebring Silver with white pearl coves. Had one shot red flames painted in the coves to match his red interior .. with MT wheels. 283 4 speed car, then with an over the counter 1970 bought DZ302 & M22.

Both cars were for sale. In hindsight, pops has wished he had listened to his young son. I always loved that '57. The '67 was scary to drive around idiots. Too "original".

  11. That ozone machine you suggested not only did a great job reclaiming the vette but it has been very useful around the house. I’ve loaned it out to friends and family too. Thanks for the suggestion.

Looking great Scotty. You going to use that line lock? I put one on my truck a few months ago, I think the threads were metric.

Hey my barn find '56 interior smells bad. I was going to try dryer sheets. Is there a thread on the ozone deal?

Nice cars, I am thinking about some aluminum slots on my 55 2 door, it has wheels like your Vette on it now. The Vette is a winner no matter what color you go with, (BLACK, please), and the 56 is cool. I like Bel Air sedans. Your guys sure work fast, good luck with the hands.

  14. I started a thread asking how to get rid of mold in the vette interior. The were a lot of suggestions that were basically things i had already tried then @kidcampbell71 suggested the ozone machine. I was getting desperate so I bought one off Amazon and it worked great.

It’s starting to look like a nice car now. These guys are not messing around, the few times I’ve ever hired some one do work for me have not worked out so well. I got lucky with these two!

    Scotty,

Because of their quality and their pace the HAMB could give these guys enough work to keep them busy a long time. I wish they we closer to me...:( You may want to give them a shout out - unless you want to keep them all to yourself!

Add me to the list of people who are very impressed with the speed and apparent quality of the work you're having done. Car looks great, would be hard to believe it was a 4 door not long ago.

You picked the right men to be working on it. :)

  26. Thankfully! I’ve picked the wrong one several times in the past.

So you mean to tell me these body guys took your car in, gave you a realistic time frame and worked on it start to finish without taking in 17 other cars, taking all those apart and giving them all the same estimated completion date then tried to work on all of them simultaneously thus quadrupling the initial time frame, pissing off half to three quarters of the vehicles owners and asking for more money along the way? Incredible. I need their number!!

  28. YES! I'm the one who has added to the scope of the job thus adding to the timeline. They are both hard working focused men and I'm sure the zombie apocalypse has added to their motivation level to some extent. They have done much more of the mechanical work than I initially intended.

  29. Oh no the Belair was pushed aside for an old vette! :D “Burnt sugar” is getting a a new motor, the old one is going in my black 57. It’s a 65 300 HP 327. Earlier in this thread i said i was building a 327 350 HP, this will work instead.
