    Easter Egg Hunt

My wife took my daughter to the Easter Egg Hunt at Babyland General but my 11 y.o. son got sick with the stomach crud so I spent Saturday at home. I really wanted to go to that egg hunt too! He felt better today and as I write this he's outside cooking a squirrel he shot and gutted. I, however have other interests so I snuck away and worked on the hood. There was a lot of lining up and punching holes and priming and fitting and sanding and riveting. It looks a little like the portholes on Capt Nemo's sub. Nice! Have you noticed I never do things the way you guys suggest? That's not on purpose. I really value everyone suggestions and they actually do influence the things I do. But it's way different when you're standing there with the tin snips and you have to make a cut. Next I have to punch and drill the holes to attach the hood side to the hinge on the existing hood. Probably a lot of fitting too.

Damn Jerry, it almost looks like you know what you are doing.

  5. Keep it up Jerry- looks great!

  6. actually no one listens to me ...
If I was there the suggestions would be after any major move was made my reactionary vision is very unsettleing

sorry i missed the company picnic did not get the memo in time ..DANG!
I am gonna have to throw that SPICEYdip saved from the superbowl afterall..

.. and the child with stomache problems eating the rodent he was cooking sounds like the cure is worse than the sickness..:)

so moving on hood hold down and the locating system ?

Oh no! The picnic was THIS week, and I was going to bring my famous potato salad. Of course, it's famous because everyone warns their friends about it.

Now for the next useless suggestion: If you are still pondering for a way to mount the cutout, you could hinge it from the bottom and use latches to hold it to the hood side.

Next year for sure. The Giant Awesome Speedster Society (Yonahrr) a.k.a. GASSY will meet at Jerry's house next April 1 for vodka martinis, bean burritos, potatoe salad (note the Quayle-esque "e") and marshmallow Peeps. Buy the Peeps now, they never expire. I'm looking forward to speedster rides!

  9. the "dip' will be in full bloom by then maybe it will keep in the garage ..fridge

  10. i guess enuf squirrel skins could be a very "smart yet nutty" hold down system

    Jerry,
I think with the length of chassis you are using that you might want to stick with some boat tail design. I build boat tail Model T speedsters based on the Faultless Raceabout body kits offered in the 1920's (See my profile album).
I'm just fascinated by your work. Can't wait to see what you do next. Jimmy

Who wants to buy a lightly used building?

Well I didn't have much time to work on sheet metal but I did manage to see if my new hood side fit. I have to trim a sliver off the back but other wise it looks okay. I need to drill and punch rivet holes next then throw on a coat of epoxy primer. Did I post a picture of the squirrel?

I don t know if it s a joke or not.
Do ppl really eat squirrels ????

  21. Yes, Dad was born in '34 towards the end of the depression- squirrel, gopher, etc.

One of my favorite lines is from "O Brother, Where Art Thou", where Clooney's character talks about how half a gopher would simply, "awake my appetite without bedding it back down" :)!

  23. More out of necessity- my mother was born in Kiel, Germany in '38- was eating horsemeat by the end of the war to stay alive.

I understand this. My grandpa was in URSS in 39/45, and I still remember an old man who lost a leg in 14/18 . Even eating a rat was meat :p

    Outside!

Yesterday I had to move the speedster out of the warehouse and into another. One of my tenants wants to expand! Hallelujah! So I took a few pictures but I only had the cell phone. Today I punched holes in the hood side and drilled holes in the hinge. I've still got some fitting and trimming to do.

Grandpa always said that squirrel made the best gravy. for biscuits and gravy.

  28. Great news Jerry, and the speedster looks FANTASTIC outside!!!

Now, back to the squirrels- I learned something the other day from Brad54... Brunswick Stew was originally designed to be used with squirrel meat :)

    Camping

I went camping with the Boy Scouts this weekend up on Chimney Mountain above Helen, Ga. so the speedster sat untouched. Yesterday, though, I worked on putting a stiffener onto the hood side. It was real floppy. Not much to see. I had to order some longer rivets. They should be here this afternoon. The rivet tools I got online. I think they're aircraft stuff. How about that custom interchangeable rivet buck!
