Started working again on my Buick, Had some trouble with the doors not opening and figured I had a lot of alining they were really stuck but I could not find where they were rubbing?
Used some 3M blocking powder still no luck...
Got some Gibbs brand in a few days ago from http://roadsters.com/ and sprayed all my door hardware and thought at least until i get to them again they won't rust.
Well I was working tonight on the nose and decided check on some interior stuff and the dam doors opened like new? I can't belive this stuff! Made my night...
Just dry *** door hardware i guess, but it must have dissolved some old rust/dust
not sure. Since I got a lot of painting to do I did a test.
I tested a bare steel plate by spraying some gibbs on it and the wiping it clean.
Then I sprayed a coat of Dupont Chromabase over it "no primer" expecting Fisheyes, Not even one, Heated it 400 degrees no problem. Strange stuff just had to test it a little, don't want no funny stuff in the paint shop..
So far this is neat stuff,

PS: I'm not saying use this as a base for painting [IMG]

  3. The stuff rules. I use it on all sorts of stuff. Coolest thing is that it can be painted over (when degreased) unlike WD-40. Run your shiznit in bare metal until you see fit, then paint it w/ no worries.

Just click on the sourse listed above. Dave Mann, the owner of Roadsters.com has it for sale, and I believe he'll ship it right to your door.

i bought some with the intension of running my 35 pickup in bare metal but when we coated a piece of body metal and left it outside it showed rust the same as the wd 40 test piece.i guess our acid rain is just to potent for any clear coating other than paint.

I'm using it on the insides of my window frames and things that are hard to get paint on ,, It will run down into spots I can't get to , it so thin like water. Not sure but if you are using bondo it might get under it too, so do tests. So far all i see it do is seal stuff. I tested on some old bondo, only a few days though, and the bondo did not delam..

jambottle, this is more of an in shop product to keep bare metal from rusting not a final coat. WD will ruin a paint job , The Gibbs is just a super shop lube and it protects bare steel nice. Plus other things. Weld through primer Not sure yet. Its working for what I need.
Plus it will knock Wasps out of the air LOL...

Oh It won't get you 30 MPG. You will have to get a VW for that kind of thing [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

  12. Yep. I started buying it from a whole other industry years ago. Awesome stuff. Protects bare steel out in the rainy/humid weather and is the best penetrant I've ever used, better than CRC & such and light years ahead of WD40. I had it penetrate to the bottom of a 9" solid rusted bolt through a steel block from putting it on the head only. Also the trigger is so super controllable you can squeeze out just drop at a time without it squirting all over everything, this makes it really last since you don't have to drown things in it.

jdee thats a kick *** looking car. Buy you a water pistol or supersoaker keep it filled with dishwashing liquid diluted with water for the bees, wasp etc. Dead on killer stuff, much cheaper than Gibbs Brand (save the good stuff!). I have a supersoaker can kill whole nests of wasps & yellow jackets etc 15' up in rafters in my tractor shed, gable ends of my house, etc.. Next to hot rods, my new favorite hobby.
