Bought this Vette in 1977. Traced owners back to 1966 then dead end. 1982 I find a 1964 gas receipt behind the seat. From San Diego, 80 miles from my home. I lookup in phone book and somebody answers. Guy goes haywire. His dad Joe SR gave him the new car for high school graduation. Joe JR said he installed chrome wheels right away.

I met Joe JR that weekend for lunch and let him drive the Vette before eating. During lunch, Joe JR says he wants me to see his collection so we drive to a Coronado Island mansion with a stable of elegant cars. Lucky for me, Joe JR inherited the house, contents and phone number from his dad.

Joe SR stored the original wheels, tires and caps for the Vette. The fronts were like new, rears were 1/2 bald. Mint hubcaps wrapped in July 1962 newspaper. Joe gave me everything. Also the original paperwork and pictures.

I sold about 1991 and included everything.
