Got back to the coupe. Fired her up for awhile , all worked as planned. Spun all 4 gears and reverse. Ordered all the front brake parts, time to finished the brakes! I just fit some Car Chemistry exhaust insert in the tailpipes. Gotta weld them in and see how it sounds. I read they help with the droning. Fingers crossed! Thanks, they found a nearby house to rent till their house is completely rebuilt on the original site. Hired an architect and already have the site being cleaned up. I think they might use the original foundation if it checks out!

Finished the muffler inserts and welded them in. Squeezed the center tube shut, welded it for good measure. Mocked exhaust system up, tacked it, removed it and welded it together. Bolted back in and fired her up. Sounds great, not too loud and no drone. Looks great from the rear with the 3" turndowns on either side of the quick change! Time to install the front brakes and bleed the system.

Took a quick shot from rear! PXL_20221208_222006733.MP.jpg

  7. I used the same type of inserts in a gutted out glass pack, the paint burned off the glass pack case within a few drives, so they are definitely more restrictive than the regular glass pack internals.

Haven't run it that long, but I will keep an eye out for issues. The system is rather short, hope that helps. Thanks for the info!

I'll answer my previous question, yep. Found one I like on eBay. Screws into the filler hole, then adapts to an AN fitting, 15" braided line up to a filter that mounts anywhere you like within the 15" radius, probably the trunk floor. That's another issue taken care of. Now to fit the 1940 Ford brakes and bleed the system. Wow after that a doorless trip around the block. Weather permitting. That might be awhile!. I don't if they are the same but on my Winters Champ I used this little doodad from Winters. Remove a bolt from the top of the QC and stick this in there. And its chrome!

Guess I'm getting old, but that doodad would require disassembly, drain, drill, tap, clean, reassembly, and reinstall. Plus bleed the brakes! But I did consider that!! Thanks!

Here's the kit I bought, Allstar Performance pn All31467. The $42 is a lot easier to swallow.

I just noticed where you are from. I was born and raised in Reading. The winters there are different than here!

Probably a good thing I installed the breather system! When I remove the 1/4" pipe plug in the filler port it hissed on the last turn. The rear was pressurized just from spinning the back wheels in all gears and check the clutch, just to check things out. I think I only spun the rear for a total of 5 minutes and it had already pressurized. Would have been a lot worse if I had driven her around.

Well holidays are past, time for some me time. Started on the front suspension final assembly and alignment. Here's a pic of one of the 42' Ford backing plates, all painted up. Got a nice Xmas gift, my wife agrees I need a lift! Sounds great, my garage ceilings are 11 ft. 3 in. So it might work. That actually will make my 2 car garage a 3 car garage! I can live with that! You should be getting a whiff of the finish line.
