Projects Glass '32 5 Window

Took the coupe to a huge car show on Sunday at the Nampa High School. About 500 cars were there. Great time and nice people. Anyway it's Tuesday, my phone rang, it was the guy from the show, I actually won a trophy! Nice surprise! Homemade trophy!

That's my plan!!

 

Well had to rethink the quick change breather install. Every time I drove the coupe I would get a drip or two from the pinion seal. The breather line connects to the fill plug port. Probably too much foaming and slinging of gear oil to allow the housing to breathe. Bought a Dorman axle breath, p/n 14689. Drilled a 3/8" hole in the left axle tube about 12" in from the brake flange. Had the axle out and got all the chips out with a magnet. Made sure it was clean and put her back together. Going to a local car meeting this weekend. Hope the drippies are over!! The breather I installed will stay because it's the cleanest way to put lube in the rear. Results soon!

 

That ought to do it. A little venting is good sometimes.

 

Fingers crossed!! Don't really want to change a pinion seal!!!!!!

Took the coupe out for a spin with an old friend. Went about 6 miles. Turned on to an open road. My buddy said let's go, we did! From 50 to over 100 in a few seconds. Third gear spun the tires. Felt great!! Love that car..

Well just found out why my Winter V8 rear leaks at the pinion. Seem the original seal, p/n 7204V is not made for the heat the rear generates. So how about 7204T. Nope not good enough either. Just found out today there's a new one. Part number 7204VT. That's Teflon not rubber. Got one coming next week. Stand by for a report! Working on the top hood latches, found these at Home Depot. Spring loaded and fit well. See pics.

Got the hood latches working great. Got lucky, seems the way I mounted them, made them infinitely adjustable just by bending the brackets. Proves it's better to be lucky than good. Also got the lowdown on my Winters V8 quick change pinion leak. Seems the pinion seal has been upgraded at least 3 times. Latest and greatest is pn. 7204VT. Original was rubber, 7204S, second version was high temp rubber 7204T, now a high temp Teflon seal. This happens when you take 10 years to get her going!!

 

Gives you the chance to fab up a combo air scoop/drip pan!

 

No thanks, but with a slinger shield on the yoke, it sure makes a mess.

 

Installed a floor switch for the high and low beam selection. The project goes on!

 

Most people now don't know what that ****on is for.

 

In my t-bucket I mounted it between the bucket seats behind the shifter, people really have no idea with it placed there lol

 

In my Roadster I mounted it on the floor right in front of the seat bottom. I hit it with my left hand. I get asked all the time what it is. Even when they are in the stock location people ask me what it's for.

 

In my coupe the shifter mounted line locked ****on is my horn!!!

 

Mine are turn signal switches.

 

More progress, she will be up and driving soon, as soon as it cools off a bit!!
