Believe me, when you're dealing with a stock 235, you won't be making enough hp to worry about back pressure holding you up. Laws of physics dictate that just doubling the size of the exhaust systems by going from single to dual reduces the back pressure by 75 percent. I run long Walker gl***packs with a perforated core on my '53 BelAir with a '54 235 with Fenton headers----nice idle, and plenty of rrrrrrrrrrrrapping when winding it up or backing off in second gear coming down a hill. I left a friend's house with it, and the next time he saw me he said, "We could still hear you when you drove past the dam!". The dam is three miles from his house.

I just took off my 3 inch flowmasters this weekend for 2 new Dynomax ultra flow mufflers (the inside is just like a gl***pack). Its WAY more quiet and sounds awesome when you romp on it! Its amazing how much a flowmaster doesnt muffle. It runs better now also, It seems a little more free flowing than the flowmasters Im sure ill see an increase in mileage!

Yeah, John It was a bit hectic and then the anticipation of the fleetline coming home safely. I drove all the way from Dallas to Lawton OK and was regretting not having the lake pipes not installed before I left and some good sounds coming out of them but still a great cruise.

My father swears by those Dynomax muffs, haven't heard them yet. I really like the sound of the Brockmans but haven't heard them on a 235 inline 6 yet, very curious. I like the Smithys also. I might just say screw it and do one of each Smithy and brockman just to see how that sounds.

I'm going with the Smithy's just received them in the mail along with some other stuff. Before I install these and the pipes I'm working on the duel carbs. Finally I get some time off to play.

Sorry for the hijack, but it seems a good place to ask: Which brands have perforated cores instead of louvered?

Thrush are perforated. Cherry bombs are louvred and **** in my opinion.

Smithy's are louvered. I wanted the the thrush gl***pack mufflers but I had to put my dollar bills more to the carburetors. I search everywhere that I could find for a 235 inline with different types of mufflers on them for sound purposes but found very little. I have heard that thrush gl***packs last longer that smithy's but the price and sound for me was right. Nice and mellow at the idle, then the mean growl when hammered down. I guess it depends on your engine, the sound your looking for and time and money you'd like to spend. What are you running? What type of sound are you looking for?
