I am prepping my 55 Sunliner vent windows for new seals. I am confused about the front door gl*** run that is on the rear of the vent ***embly. I don't see this available from any of the normal suppliers. Can anyone educate me?
I used Velcro strips, the loop side. Get 'em at Jo-Ann Fabrics, cut to fit, glue 'em in and Bob's your uncle.
1-stop shopping at Steele Rubber. http://www.steelerubber.com/search?...el=fairlane-sunliner&style=2-door-convertible If you have your vent window out, post a picture. My '59 has a 31" (31.25" to be exact) rigid channel that ties in low on the door.
Hey Joe...drive down the street to Cl***ic Auto Parts in OK city...they have the biggest selection available anywhere. They make their own....Dale's Manufacturing....same owner as Cl***ic. On '57's, the gl*** run is riveted to the wing window with the same rivets used to install the rear wing window seal, so all done at the same time. If your actual channel is in good shape, I know some guys that do what Tomdob suggested with the Velcro.
Thanks guys, the channel on the division bar is in very good shape so maybe the Velcro is the answer. I still don't see where anyone has the channel with fuzzys. On my 53 F100 the division bar is available so I would have thought the 55 would be also. After several disappointing deals with Cl***ic I shop elsewhere.
Post a picture of what you are working on. Most parts are around for our Fords with a little digging.
When I had my vent windows done and a side window made our local gl*** shop made the fuzzie on the spot have you checked with your local yellow pages ? they might sell you the material.
Bob I would love to post a picture but due to my recent Windows 10 conversion I can't figure out how. I am not a Microsoft fan right now. Anyway, I did find, in the Restoration Specialties catalog, some non beaded gl*** run that looks to be the correct width and depth to fill the division bar and accept 1/4"gl***.
Their catalog will tell you the dimensions, if you are able to measure up what you have. Look at their Y619P product. This is the rigid stuff, the Y620 is the flexible stuff. You'll have to pop rivet the bottom bracket back onto the rigid channel. It snaps into the stainless at the top, takes a while to see what is going on especially with the fuzzy stuff worn off it. http://www.restorationspecialties.com/2016catalog/page_11.pdf
Thanks Bob, the stuff I ordered is non-beaded since I am planning on installing it on the original beaded stuff that no longer has any felt left. I will use weather strip cement to hold in place. I may end up needing to have the door gl*** sanded down slightly, but that will be ok. Hopefully that will work. I ordered their number 8-A-2.
I'm not sure if yours uses rivets or is screwed in up top. Look carefully at the old one and transfer any hole measurements if you need to. Mine had a few holes and slots in it and I made a sketch of it with all the dimensions.
