I have to disagree, Dennis. There are plenty of shows in every state for all the other cars. I can't see anything wrong with it. This is the way they want to do their show.... So be it.

From what I understand, the swap meet and the general admission show or whatever they call it are awesome, and anything goes as long as it's pre '73 or something like that.

    I can't wait til June!

Let's see... finished cars, and the L.A. Roadster show.... I think it may be what we would call.... traditional.

Do your homework before hand of any 'car show' or auto event. The term car show has become generic. After all, would you still try to enter or hang out at a lesbo bar when you do not fit the criteria?

This just about sums it up. I have made it to the show in suede paint but I will be there this year with Shinny paint for my 3rd mug!!!

Didn't know it was leso night when I went in though but it soon became apparent. Bands were great. Chicks in the mens toilets was a bit unusual, but **** it, I just used the urinal as usual and they didn't care.

I look at it like this....You come to my house...I don't push religion and my beliefs on you...BUT, you sit down at my table to eat my food at my house I worked and paid for...we say the Blessing...my house...my rules...not being mean...just my rules......they say shiney paint.....go get you some Tractor Supply $40 a gallon paint or multiple cans of Krylon and make it shine............or...park out with the General Population.......I don't see a whole lot to misunderstand......IT'S CALLED RULES...AND IT'S THEIR RULES AND THEIR SHOW THEY'VE WORKED TO KEEP GOING 50 YEARS...SO THEIR DOING SOMETHING RIGHT.......I'm driving round trip about 5400 miles...my '32 Roadster is Tupperware..and if they tell me to park in General Population cause my car AIN'T REAL....I'll park out their with all the other Brookville Roadsters that AIN'T REAL as people say....It's not about the car, it's about their show and the love we all have for cars..plastic ones, steal ones, fake ones, shiney ones, ****py ones...but we get to talk cars with some of the greatest guys around the world at this show.....Get in or get out Boys.....life is short and us Old Guys want to enjoy it as long as we can.

One more thing to add is as an attendee in a car meeting the criteria to park in the exhibition area, the LA Roadster Club members not only thank you for coming , they also tell you that " you are the show ". Be thankfull that they have been open minded enough to expand through the years and offer everything that has been added to this great show. They are not a business , just a bunch of great ol boys doing this for the love of their hobby , fun and charity. In the end , if you can't handle the rules and enjoy the show , go back home.........

The LA Roadster show is a long running show that is a good show . The rules are the rules and I can respect that . It is a big show and even though it is divided into 2 sections , it makes no difference when you are there . Both sides have there goods and bads like any show and the swap meet is awesome. My car is not allowed in the " Roadster " part of the show and that is fine . I don't plan on painting my car because I grew up with all the different colors hanging here and there my whole life so it means more to me as it is . My Dad wanted it to be black and perfect and that is one reason he never drove his 32 Roadster. He couldn't afford to do it the way he wanted so it never got done. I decided to learn from that and put it together with what I have and we have been having fun ever since . I don't mind parking in the "other" parking as I respect the show and it's long time running rules . Don't let the rules deter you from going to the show . It is a great show and it is a bunch of fun . See you there :D

I find it pretty funny reading the complaints from people who think it's terrible that the Roadster Show (or any show) would require a car to be finished in shiny paint. I wonder why the mentality of today's hotrodder seems to reflect the general populace's thinking? It's the right of any show promoter to set the venue for his show theme, and the complaints seem to echo those who own modern muscle cars and can't drive them into a traditional pre '64 show. Most on this forum would tell those people to go find a show that caters to their modern cars, yet they don't mind complaining the LA Roadster show has rules that exclude them.
If you don't like the shiny paint finished theme, then you have the choice to paint your rod, or find another venue that embraces the primer and satin paint theme. Don't think everyone should have to adjust their rules to meet your needs.

I hope this isn't too OT, but I will be attending this show for the first time. I'll have a rental car, so I am wondering where I could park if the parking lot and surrounding area is going to fill up with hot rods/customs and include a swap meet area. Be nice to me, not a local from Cali. Thanks.

There's some spectator parking information on the show flyer: http://www.laroadsters.com/flyer/2014 flyer.pdf

There is lots of spectaor parking across the street from the show with a tunnel connecting to cross the street. You have nothing to worry about but bringing good walking shoes to enjoy the whole show and swapmeet. Be sure to arrive early too. :)

Of all the naysayers (*****ers), how many of you would drive your car 1/2 to 3/4 to all the way across country to attend a show?
Let's rephrase that --- How many of you who are *****en even have a car you'd trust to drive over 250 miles.
    Nuff said.

I have 12 mugs from attending the show w/ a shiny roadster. Don even helped me get a mug one year when they ran out & never mailed it to me. I've also parked in the swap area w/ 2- 55 Chevys & a 40 Ford over the years. I've even sold a few cars at this show.
2 years- I parked w/ my club w/ my shiny roadster in the swap area so we could all be together. Point is- what the hell is the difference where you park as long as you are at the show?
These shiny paint rules have been in place since day one, so it shouldn't be a big shock- unless you can't read.
I like both areas- shiny roadsters or in the parking lot. Both are a part of the show.
Some of you whiners should just stay home or grow a pair & bring whatever car you have & stop worrying where you will park & have a good time.
You know- I don't think I've ever read a post from anyone saying they attended LARS & had a ****ty time. Try it, you might like it. Life's too short to worry about this ****. If you don't go- you are the one missing out, not anyone else but you!

YEAH WHAT HE SAID! I'm too far away, too broke to attend, have nothing to drive that they would let in anywhere to park, can't afford to build what I'd like to have, runnin out of years fast, so just be glad you are close enough to attend and find an empty spot set the brake and ENJOY!!

In all seriousness, I can't believe this thread. A club has been running an event successfully for years, their way. That's it.

If you want to go, go. If you don't, don't. Life is full of choices.

For those worried about whether they can park somewhere, I went in a rental and parked in the "general public" parking area. There is plenty. Of course you have to walk a bit, but life is like that sometimes too.

  29. If you wanna get in for free Armour All the whole body out in the parking lot right before you go in.:D

I don't think anyone had ever heard of a gold chainer when the rules were written 50 years ago.
