Curious, does anyone know when Glytpol(SP) first came out? I just opened up my 1941 air compressor and it looks like the inside is coated with this orange stuff. So either it is orange paint or Glyptol to help oil run off the walls easier.

According to google invented in 1914 and first used in paint in 1931 - spun off from GE in 1985 - Try searching Glyptal

GE is the best! There are spray can copies called Electrical insulating paint/coating.
