Curious, does anyone know when Glytpol(SP) first came out? I just opened up my 1941 air compressor and it looks like the inside is coated with this orange stuff. So either it is orange paint or Glyptol to help oil run off the walls easier.
According to google invented in 1914 and first used in paint in 1931 - spun off from GE in 1985 - Try searching Glyptal
We had some rather large process pipeline compressors . They were 100% painted with it on the inside . My 4 Bt ***mins was painted inside with it also .
Yes most large industrial compressors are painted with it and of course large industrial high voltage motor also are painted with it. Good stuff Dan
