Kool car man. Gotta be a bit nose up, maybe Ansen Sprints or ET mags (rough cast spokes w/polished rims), we'll keep it a secret that you stuffed a 455 in it vs a Nailhead. We need the nailheads for the hoodless hot rods;) Really anything but an LS-18" wheel-Pro-Wannabe would be rockin. I like the way the back panel is a smaller version of the Wildcat, the way it dips in on the ends and flares out in the middle. All the glass is the same as GTO, Malibu, Cutlass/F-85. The basic chassis is as well. A few little things might be special but basically nuts n bolts to upgrade. Bucket seats are expensive. Hope yours aren't missing. I think NPD has seat foam but don't know about seat covers. Headliners are all the same too, even a few of the patterns. Good luck, off to a great start.

Thanks the interior is in great condition, dark red leather, no rips. It's complete. Let me show you a picture on another skylark I had to pass on

Real good advice here. Thanks for all who contributed. The amount of time and money saved with taking good advice is golden. Looks like I made the h.a.m.b cut off at 1965.

    Great looking car!!!
Ok, lets talk about the black CA license plates on the car. Is the car currently registered? In order to retain those black plates, that plate MUST be listed on the car's title *or* an old registration card. In other words, The plate number must be tied to the VIN. So if you can prove those plates were on the car, you can keep those plates. DO NOT surrender those plates!! My advice --> skip the DMV and go a one of the HAMB-approved registration services. If back DMV fees are due, you will probably save money.

I'm considering the nailhead too, I'm in Engine research mode right now. Keep in mind I want a manual tranny. I should be getting a 05 silverado with an LS. In my opinion that's where they belong.

You picked the right car. T/A Performance has bunches of engine parts, including motor mount adaptors to bolt a 455 Buick in it. The standard B-O-P bellhousings work and are easy to find. That 455 Buick has enought torque to pull stumps! Not hard to get that Skylark in the 12's with a little tuning.

  12. That's the one I'd have picked....great lines and the chassis lends itself to some great/cheap upgrades. I'm told the 70s F body variable ratio power steering gear bolts in. Came in Trans Ams and Z-28s and made the car a joy to drive. I've had them in several cars. Not sure but the F-body stabilizer bar [1.25" diameter!] may fit also. Makes the car corner like a slot car.
    455 is a bolt-in and it is a torque monster...great engines. I wouldn't pass up a Buick 430 either. 12 bolt chevelle axle is also a bolt-in. Nice choice you've made.

Thanks Guys. I real happy with it. Now like said above, Its time to get to work. The 430 is looking good too. I'm for the best bang for buck deal. Thanks for the tip on the power steering gear. That will help with the Donuts!

  14. I have a special place in my heart for a 67 Skylark that got a 455 Buick put in it. That 65 is pretty much the same isn't it?
