GM alternator on a Flattie

    Well, I finally found a machine shop to fix me up. I got 1/8 inch shaved off the engine side of the bracket. Cost me $10. Fits perfect now, but I think I lost about 1/2 inch of vertical adjustment. That shouldn't matter much.

    I fabed my own bracket using a stock type generator bracket. bought a chrome hold down kit for gm alts, and welded them to the bracket.

    I noticed you have an aluminum pulley on your alternator. It looks like it's starting to wear you belts out. I had an alum pulley on my alt and as it wore out, the belt started to ride deeper in the groove and would fray the belt edges. I went thru two or three belts a year. I finally found a steel pulley and have driven with my current belt, over 20K miles. Check it out.
