I am looking for the backing plates so I can put an E-Brake on a car that is missing it. I need full size GM car axel I believe 72 to 77. All I need is the pieces and backing plate for an E-Brake. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated as I am not real familiar with this and the pieces 100% needed. I do not want to replace the rear end because of the 4-link and everything is tight and nice but need this brake on this 4500 pound monster. The rear is off of a 73 caprice is all I know and missing what is needed to install the E Brake. Thanks for any help.

71-76 full size GM cars are the same...and GM half ton pickups from 73-81ish should also be the same, and might be easier to find?

But make sure the donor has the same size brakes as your car.

If you can find a diagram of the rear brake ***embly it will show all the small parts, but you will need a balence bar that goes between the front and rear shoes and tge lever arm the end of the cable attaches to. Check Rock Auto. You'd be surprised you can probly get new backing plates and all the small bits from them. I have bought several sets of gm backing plates from them.

There are two different drum sizes for a 77 Caprice or a lot of 70's/80's GM full size cars.
If yours 5 on 5 bolt pattern it should have 11 inch drums and take the matching backing plate. There are also two widths of 11 inch rear drums. then there is the 9-1/2 inch drum that goes on most of the big car rear ends that come with a 5 on 4-3/4 bolt pattern. You have to figure out what you need before just running out an snagging a set of backing plates.

Sounds like you're driving the car...so doesn't it have backing plates?
Maybe you are converting disc to drum?
I'm confused...because it seems like you have drum brakes and so you would only need the internal park brake components and not replacement backing plates. You need to pull the axles to change those over.
