swapping in a saginaw 4 speed in my 65 impala and am rounding up the few remaining parts. i need a clutch fork for this whole deal and have a couple of direction to go, but nothing that specifically states 65 impala with a smallblock or anything like that. jeg's has one that fits "most" GMs, but the dude on the phone was no help. what's the deal with clutch forks? are GM clutch forks very universal, or are they more specific per car? anybody know where i can find the parts number for a 65 or 66 chevy fullsize clutch fork? Jeg's says their fork will replace GM #'s 340278 & 14066235 if anybody's got a book... thanks fellas
I have an old flat rate book that lists # 3860005 for 66-73 full size cars (exc V8 on 71-73) if only that helped you... edit: oh wait...that does help, because it's different than any of the other car forks for those years. So a camaro, nova, chevelle, corvette fork would be different, and those are what you'll mostly find.
it's a starting point, i guess. and i appreciate the number... anybody know who the hell sells clutch forks? i highly doubt the parts stores would be of any help...
parts stores will have very common ones available, usually the ones that break or wear out quickly. maybe one of the full size specialists such as impala bob (I don't know his reputation), do some googling...
cool. another place to start. i checked out bob's last night, but i think the only listed parts for 6 cylinder and big block applications. i snagged an old one on ebay for like 2.50 today, we'll see if it works. i'll also scout around and see if the parts stores can get them too. thanks for the help fellas.
