Hey, does anyone out there know anything about GM tilt steering wheel column wiring? I've got one with the connector cut off. Anyone know which wire powers the column so I can try? to start figuring out what my other wires are? I'm having one heck of a time trying to install a Haywire Wiring Harness in my old 51 Hudson! Ok, Thanks in advance. I don't know if we can put the email addresses on here or not as I am not a computer person but if you have any ideas please let me know.

Should be able to find that info any number of places on the web. You don't say what year the column is and I suspect that is the first thing folks will want to know. Also there could be a couple of plugs depending on what column you have. This was a quick thing I found on wiring a GM column. I have something similar in my Rebel wiring kit so I know this works for a lot of GM columns. This does not cover the ignition stuff.

There are two or three different connection points on a GM column depending on the year model. The ignition switch sits up on the top of the column and the plug end is on the car, the longer harness with the thin flat plug is for the turn signals and horn. The possible other plug is for the dimmer and wipers. So, we need to know which harness or plug you're talking about. A pic would help....

The good news is that from around 1969 on the color code is the same for all GM turn signal switches. This should help. GM turn signal diagram.jpg GM turn color code.png
