Gm Transmission Dimentions Please

My brother and I did a ****** swap on a 63 Impala. The car had an aluminum power glide in it and we installed a Saginaw 4 speed. I need to get the drive shaft cut TODAY if possible and the car is 20 miles from me. I need to know how much to cut it. I took a measurement yesterday and it looks like I need 2.5". I measured from the seal surface to the front hanger bearing hole to come up with this. I did some searching here and found one thread that mentioned 2".


So the question is how much longer is a Saginaw 4 speed than a short shaft power glide? Thanks!​

Thanks for the info but I had to guess.

For future ref.... I went with 2.5" and could have gone with 2" but it works!
