I have one that has been out of the car for a couple years. Worked fine when I took it out. What should I do to it to put it back into service? (Seals?) Its been stored indoors with the torque converter removed. Thanks-
Depending on the situation, it may be a good idea to flush the cooler lines and the cooler, if they were previously used. If the torque converter is used also, I'd try to put some fluid in it before installation, first draining as much as you can of the old contents. You don't have to go nuts with it, but I'd try to put about a quart in to protect the internals upon startup. Coat the seals and converter snout with trans fluid, or better yet trans assembly lube (or even Vaseline) to protect them from starting dry. Check the modulator and its vacuum line...bugs tend to build nests inside them, which can lead to some interesting effects. As the other guys said, change the seals and filter, and give it a try.
Dang it I forgot the modulator.. I allways replace it to they are cheap fm2319 I think its been a bit
